The poly came from greenhouse megastore and yes, shipping is OUTRAGEOUS! The sheets are also expensive. I'm not sure what Rod paid for shipping but I think the sheets cost somewhere around $4000.00. They come 6 feet wide and a variety of lengths from 6 feet long up to 24 feet in length.

Thanks. Rod cut the boards in about a week then stained for probably another week. He then had to set his foundation blocks and build the small wall for the dome to sit on. He did this work with two other guys in about a month. I was there to assemble the dome with four others and it went up in four days. Then the three of them covered it in a week.

Thanks. I love Germany. Spent some time there a while back. Really loved Garmisch! ( I know, Garmisch is Bavarian!)

I recently built a high tunnel at work, (not a dome). But for the polycarbonate end panels, we used aluminum tape to seal the tops, and micropore tape for the bottoms (keeps out bugs, but allows condensation to escape). So far seems to be working.

I will be doing more videos from home real soon. Matter of fact, the cover for the smaller 18 foot dome is coming this week so we will be covering that one and finally building the seeding table system. Thanks for watching.

It would be good to have a video to explain this ... but sadly this one did not. How about some close ups on how you connected the panels to thd dome, and if you have all the domes dripping water downward, and they are all taped on the outside ... then don't you get a lot of water leakage to the inside floor? Also, I think the largest polycarbonate panels are 4' x 8' or 12' ... maybe longer, but 4' wide max. So, wouldn't it bear to say something about the maximum size of a dome dome panel not exceeding 4' in any dimension, or making the triangles in the dome sized to maximize the polycarbonate usage - since that stuff is so expensive?

Where did you get your polycarbonate from? Did it come in 4x8 sheets? I am having trouble finding anything local, and the shipping charges are OUTRAGEOUS...

Rather than transferring the shape of the triangle, just put a small mark at the centre of each intersection (where 5 or 6 struts come together), measure the 3 lengths, and transfer these direct to the material. Triangles shape themselves, if the side lengths are correct (and the struts are straight). :)

Hi mate. That looks brilliant. How well does the dome handle strong winds? Love you vids mate. I'm going to build this stuff

+iersejounge We've been through several serious storms with 60 + MPH winds and haven't had any issues. Domes are designed to divert winds around them.

Can you overlap the triangles from top to bottom?, as if they were shingles to prevent water from coming in? I'm having a hard time thinking on a waterproof solution with materials available in my country (for now silicone caulk seems to be what I would have to do, but doesn't seem the right thing).

Those would likely be huge panels. (The widths are something like 7.640, 8.430ft etc).... Who supplied your sheets or can you link the product you buy?

I don't recall the actual size but they weren't that big. I have asked Rod where he purchased the panels from and am waiting his response.

We didn't use connectors; each connection is hand-cut. It's the same as our smaller domes in our other videos.

No. He doesn't have a channel. Next time I go visit I will film. He has a great set up. Gravel beds, DWC beds, Mittleider beds, hot tub water heater and solar power. I think it's time for an update.

It's never a good idea to run water into the channels inside the polycarbonate. It can cause mildew if not allowed to dry out. Better to use compressed air.

Brandon Mehrabi don’t have the numbers. I know he spent a lot of money on the poly alone so I’d guess 8 to 10 grand.
