This is a primary example of how movies used to have the room to "breathe". The pacing isn't rushed and still manages to avoid dragging. And simple movements recieve a lot of focus because the animators were showing off how well they could make a man put on his coat. There were also pleanty of meandering moments like this in Winnie the Pooh and Robin Hood. Mind you, I have nothing against modern animation at all. Encanto is delighful. I just wish we had a bit more variety in the pacing, because I prefer slower films.
@seankim1592

Yeah, I am starting to appreciate media with varied pacing. time to slow down to breathe and immerse in atmosphere and time to start speeding up when needed. I wish more media was allowed to allow viewers to be immersed without too much rush.

It's the story, emotions, performance of the actors, and the thought behind it that makes a movie a great movie.

It's amazing how much I missed as a little kid. I mostly relied on visuals, as well as a few key phrases, to understand what was going on. For example, I didn't really understand what Pongo was thinking as he looked at those women in the magazines; only the pretty drawings, coupled with the phrase "human beauty," stuck in my mind. I did understand his judgments of the human and dog pairings, though, and thought they were funny. Ahhh, memories!

That's a fantastic testament to how well-made this scene is: it works, even just as visual entertainment, even if you don't know what they're talking about in the dialogue. The visual gags are just as funny as the dialogue; in fact they compliment each other, and one can still really enjoy this scene regardless of age. I didn't "get" this scene when I was a kid either because I didn't know a thing about "bachelorhood" or the like, but I remember thinking the dogs were very cute. :)

Or how instead of saying “pregnant” you had to say something like “with child”

Its inversal from me because i dont really like men looking like me, im into something more exotic (Balkan, Caucasian, Asian, Arabic and Hindi. The whole Asia actually). Inversal from me. Dont find Polish men atrractive. For sure if i were a dog, maybe like Lady, i would choose a spaniel. If i were a poodle (both black or white. I think black are more beautiful, in humans too) i would choose a poodle, if Collie, like Lassie then Collie. Then i would be racist because these races are most beautiful. But if i were a different race i would choose one of mentioned.

Whenever she meets some she doesn't stick her nose close to them and rarely, if ever, plays with them. Long-haired dogs are also a no-no for her. Mostly she likes other sighthounds of her size. You can just see her light up and become all energetic if she meets dogs that are the same breed.

MadeleineKayy What's wrong with Pixar?

Nothing wrong, just really miss the oldschool handdrawn animation like in this movie. Not crazy about all the CGI animated stuff. The movies are great, but the animation style is so similar, nothing new. Except "The Paperman"-short.. Would LOVE a whole movie like that.

MadeleineKayy Agreed. Paperman is amazing, and a full movie like that would really stand out.

Yes, it has to be done! I really hope Disney will listen to the fans and switch it up a bit. I'd also love it if they made a movie in a purely impressionistic style, like a moving painting! Kind of like James Colemans Disney-artwork. I've seen a lot of talk about it on the internet, and I would just die that happens

The juxtaposition of pongo's well thought out reasoning against his expression and body language is one of the best representations of how a guy feels when he sees the perfect girl. All business and tact on the inside but you can't stifle the fearful excitement behind you really feel at first sight.

No, it means both dog and human were too short to match or compliment a tall man and a tall dog.
