You see there was significant amount of kurd tribes who participated in the Greek and Armenian genocide with the Turks , although the main role was for the Turks , and some Honorable kurds opposed this genocide . the funny thing that the kurds in Iraq (KDP) now are close allies with the Turks and they helped them by supporting ISIS to destroy Iraq and killing its people even killing some other kurds in the way (mainly Ocalan supporters) , it seems some of the kurds can not betray their black history .

Yes there are some left! But only the descendants, only few of them are Pontians from that time! The Turks destroyed it all and tried to erase us and now they don't use the term genocide! My Great Grandmother was with us until she passed away in 2005, she was from Pontos and she told all the stories! But the Pontian language still exists!

+Stripes But also in history the Turks forced the Orthodox Christians in Pontos to be Muslims because Turks hated the Orthodox Christians (or any other form of Christianity) and they spat on them! Those who transferred to Muslim were left alive but those who remained faithful to Orthodoxy were tortured and killed!

Turks conquered untill Giresun in 1399. 1461 was when they fully controlled the area. The Greeks lived there untill 1922. After ww1 the Greeks saw an oppurtunity to make their own country and with the aid of the Russian Empire and Armenians they revolted against the Ottoman Empire. About 30% of the region was Christian while the 70% was muslim. You can maybe understand why they lost it since they were far outnumbered. Also alot of them died and the other were exchanged between Greece and alot fled to the Caucuses which was under control of the Russian Empire. Anyway there are some Romeykans( Muslim Pontians) in Trabzon tho. Small in numbers and fully intgrated into Turkish culture and language.

Pontian Greeks are singing them. Stathis Nikolaidis, Theodoros Pavlidis, Kazantzidis are singers that I know as a Non-Pontian. The Pontian-Greek dialect got influenced by the Ottoman Empire and has turkish words in it. Names like Tsolakidis mean son of a çolak or Kazantzidis son of a kazancı.

@@user-gs8oy3sn8n no this is a big mistake, the pontian dialect may have a few turkish words but pontian itself is an ancient hellenic dialect wich was also understood from alexander the great who spoke macedonian hellenic dialect 👍🏼

@@panosbadenwurtemberg7325 You are right. I didn't want to say that pontic is turkish. I think I didn't make it clear and I'm sorry for that. They have some turkish loanwords. Turkish language is also not persian eventhough it has lots of persian words. For example the Turks took the Persian word for watermelon "kharboze" and made it "karpuz" and then it entered in Greek language. Pontos is Greek φίλε 👍
