I was always wondering why nobody on the internet was doing this? They always use submersibles, I think the pool pump not only has the filter in it but also does the pump pressure of the water that all you needs your chiller, great job! Looking at a national tank outlet they have a 200 gallon polyethylene barrel or tank. I think it DIY and that would be awesome. Hey Joe! Quick question. I have the Intex 1000 pool pump and plan on running a 1/4 hp active aqua chiller. Is that too much pump? I also want to run your whole house sanitation system but can I just take the filter out of my pool pump to use it just as a pump since it’ll be going through the GE? Thanks!

Hey! I'd say if you are looking to build the filtration and sanitation system I would probably look for a different pump just to get away from the interval and have a more dependable, durable and compact pump. And the C1000 does put out a lot of flow so it might be a bit much for the 1/4HP... I used the C530 when I ran it on my 1/4HP

Couple of quick questions. Is the tubing 3/4" ID or OD? How do you connect to the tub and to the chiller now? I have two valves off the tub that are female threaded, and I'm waiting for the Cocita chiller to arrive. I'm using the 1000 pump
@DIYColdPlunge

I believe this was OD - It's whatever fits over the barbs here. You'll need bulkheads with similar fittings to outfit it to the tub. They come in both male and female threads with barbs on the opposite side.

hey Andrew! the main drawback you have to rig it up like this vs. use PVC right out of the gate, other than that it is on a timer.
