I still remember that day. I went to a catholic high school during this time and it was during the middle of my band class that we were told to change the channel to tune into this moment. Looking back, seeing this moment when this was airing was unbelievable. What a nice way to witness history.

you do realize that people who don't believe in a god, don't really care of laws made by religion? what should we do, force people to "believe", which is impossible? so any remote belief, away from Christianism is condemned, even the pre-Colonized, the current Japanese, whomever that won't believe in our God? the worst thing a Christian can do is to endorse that old and misconceived mindset and attack other beliefs, specially people who are clearly being accepting of something of our religion as in Fiona's case. She is being openminded, we should embrace her and respect her belief. If there is a chance and willingness on her end, maybe invite her over and show her what this is about, even if she is not willing to convert... but with your hateful comment, you just ruined that chance.
@realEmoSedillo

Jesus also said that whomever is free of sin to be the first to throw a stone (sorry, I'm not an English speaker, my Bible is in Spanish)... so go figure. You don't see things as a whole. Fiona is your sister, she doesn't need a stranger to tell her she's going to Hell. She needs to see that Christians can spread love just like Jesus taught us.

I am not catholic. Just intuition, I can usually tell a lot from faces and voices. I may be wrong. Sure, there is a lot of corruption in the Vatican, but that does not mean that every soul - member, priest, nun, bishop, cardinal or pope is corrupt in their essential spirit - only God can judge that. Send love and compassion to the pope and the church, that they may do a cleansing and return to true goodness.

As for the numbers attending the Catholic Church - yes, they have been dropping in the West, but they have been going through the roof in Africa, Asia and South America. In fact, the Catholic Church has experienced its largest growth in its entire two thousand year history. So calls of its demise by atheists and other Catholic-haters, has been premature and wrong. God bless the Catholic Church and may you have a blessed and happy Triduum.

I did a search and found that the Last Supper is based on the Jewish "Kiddush" ceremony in which the leader sanctifies a cup of wine and passes it around and also did a sanctifying and breaking of bread to be passed around. At no time do they mention the wine being the blood of anybody or the bread being the body. The Eucharist is a pagan corruption of the Kiddush. The 1st mention of a Euchaist type ritual was by Paul the Roman in the First Epistle to the Corinthians.

Exactly my point. This idea of only one "god" had to endure years of ridicule before the sands of time washed away the validity of the Greek "gods". This too will happen to the ludicrous Catholic / Christian claims. The only difference is that Science is speeding up the process. Pushing those unwilling to educate themselves further into the recesses of ignorance only supported by their "god of the gaps" mentality!

Every denial of a particular tradition involves a bias (hidden or open) towards one's own alternate tradition (E.g., if all Church authority is spurned, even individualistic autonomy is a "tradition," which ought to be defended as a Christian view in some fashion)

A news reporter said, "Maybe he'll bring hope to the Catholic church". Really?! What happened to Jesus? I thought it was all about Jesus and what He did on the cross. Idolatry at its finest. Nevermind Christ giving people hope. All people are talking about is how humble he is by riding the bus and cooking his own meals. All I hear is of Mary, the saints, and the mother church. Thank you Lord Jesus for the salvation that only "You" can provide, and You are our "only" intercessor, God bless.

Although i'm not a Catholic yet i appreciate the way they select their leader, the way they treated secrecy as more than a confidential and the way their followers and even who losses the selection process still throw their full obedience to the selected one. That character should be reflected and maybe applied to the political world of election and all other forms of selection processes for the benefits of everybody who has a direct or indirect concern.
