Poppy Seed Cake Recipe (with vanilla pastry cream and chocolate ganache)
Poppy seed sponge cake, vanilla pastry cream, a thin layer of biscuits and chocolate ganache.
Ingredients for the vanilla cream:
8 egg yolks
1 liter of milk
150g of caster sugar
80g cornstarch
3 teaspoons vanilla extract
300g butter (at room temperature)
Ingredients for the poppy seed sponge cake (baking tray is 23x42cm):
8 egg whites
150g of caster sugar
100g poppy seeds
50g coconut flakes
6 tablespoons of plain flour (90g)
Syrup:
300ml of water
3-4 spoons of caster sugar
Lemon juice
Vanilla extract
A packet of plain butter biscuits
Chocolate ganache:
150g chocolate (50% cocoa)
150ml cold whipping cream
Top baking: 180°C (top-down without ventilation) for approx. 20-25 min. but the time may vary depending on the type of oven used.
