I wonder if there's a correlation around immigration from different countries and changes in religious beliefs and diversity. If you're religious, Mary is a pretty obvious choice but if you're not, you would be averse to choosing that one even if it was in your family history.

I'm a "Rob". Everywhere I go, every place I become part of, everyone knows my name, even if I don't tell them. It's like the name "Robert" is programmed into society as one of the most generic names that a white male can have. This doesn't really bother me, except that I have a hard time remembering other people's names, because so many of them are unusual or unique. If I could only recall others' names more easily

well for us it was simple, we both had common names and didnt want our kids to have trouble in public if someone yelled their name and didnt know they were speaking to them, so we named our kids "weird" or "special" or ""unique" names to not have this issue.
