Northern Territory Senator Jacinta Nampijinpa Price says she "can't help but cringe" hearing popular TV shows pay lip service to Indigenous people using an Acknowledgment of Country.
Indigenous leaders have blasted popular reality TV shows for using the Acknowledgment of Country, labelling the gestures “unnecessary” and “condescending” to Aboriginal people, according to the Daily Telegraph.
"It's become a real divisiveness and really unnecessary I think to have to constantly have to do this," Ms Price told Sky News host Chris Kenny.
"It's more lip service - I don't feel there's a real genuine sentiment behind it - but more just like 'well we want to be seen as non-racist, so let's do this'."
