Good Morning Claire! It's been much too hot here as well. It's supposed to be 108F Friday! And above 100F all weekend!😲Thankfully, we have AC, but I still get up early and open all the windows to cool down the house (and let in some fresh air and listen to the birds), and then shut them and pull the shades/curtains once it hits about 70F outside. It's lovely right now listening to the birds while watching your video. Glad to hear you had a fun night out!

Hey Claire, good morning, I don't envy the heat for you. All I can say is that during the heat (as we have no AC in the UK) we keep our windows and doors closed during the day and we have thick lined blackout curtains that help to shade the rooms in direct line of the sun, we have full sun from early morning until about 3pm ish so as soon as the sun moves around the side of the house we can open up the front windows, but we still have the curtains shut. (I have noticed in the hotter weather here that we have turned fans on in the back of the house and that circulates the cooler air at the back into the front room as well. The back of our house is usually cooler for longer and We have not had hot weather for the last week but in previous heat waves, (not quite as not as where you are obviously) blocking the sun out and then though out the night opening the windows and doors and turning the fans on to circulate cooler air around the house seems to help, as soon as the sun is up we close the windows again to keep the cooler air in and the hotter air out.... obviously if it's still really muggy and hot at night the only thing we have is a fan and a cool shower when it's really bad. Glad to hear that you enjoyed a lovely evening/all nighter wevtook the kids to a car show yesterday and also visited the National Trust Park which was lovely we just managed to dodge a really heavy downpour of rain which we drove home in. There was a few showers while we were out but we missed the deluge that followed so we were lucky there. Got some great pictures. I'd better get on and make some bread so hope you survive the heat and I wish you cool breezes. 😊

Good morning, Claire. I ended up watching fireworks on tv with my family, because the heat here in Florida was too much for us by the end of the day. A few days later the temperature was a bit lower in the morning and did some gardening, but it was still too much and tired us out. But we got so many projects done that were on a to-do list for a while. Yay! I also got a new birdbath as a belated birthday gift from my mom, also YAY! I love it! The birds have not found it yet. Maybe soon... I definitely have sensory issues with temperature, hot and cold. I can't stand the heat but I also don't like cold. In the summer I go from hot to cold instantly when the AC blows on me. It's really frustrating. Both extremes sap my energy.

Hey, there. Good morming, Claire. Ah, the heat...Midwest has had it off and on too, followed by lots of rain, only to rinse and repeat. lol Really ramp up my already indoorsy lifestyle during this time. My youngest has a huge sandbox we go out and play in but usually jump on it for about an hour early in the day before escaping inside to AC and movies. That reminds me-my 4th was not the total terror I feared.I spoke up as honestly but kindly as I could about my feelings about the day and my husband really seemed to understand better.So... we went to the movies to see Despicable Me 4 as a family in the afternoon then I stayed in while my husband and youngest did a few fireworks outside, but it was all very low-key and over fast. They did save one bigger sparkly one for me to look out the window and watch, too, which I thought was sweet. Looking forward to the dress but take your time. Thinner yarn sounds practical. Best wishes in your week and surviving the giant outdoor oven of summer! ❤

My border for what is nice and when it starts to get too hot is 25°Celsius/77°Fahrenheit. (When I was younger I used to say that´s when I start to live and don´t feel cold any more, but that was 3 sizes less.)Today after some days with thunderstorms and a lot of rain (love it!) we have 26°C/78.8F and tomorrow they say will climb up to 31°C/87.8°F. Remembering the last summers it will maybe get like this or more for a long time and I do hate it as an adult. I even can´t drink any hot beverages now. But yeah, I am very privileged. My fourth was nice. We had inlaws over because our original plans got cancelled due to the host being ill. The only bad thing was that my son - also asd - had a panic attack about the fireworks that people lit iff illegally alllll night long in our neighborhood. 😢 I played the livestream of the Space Needle fireworks for him has exposure therapy-ish and so he could associate the sound with the visual. We also talked through how fireworks work so he would feel a little more safe. The dog, btw, was completely fine. But yeah. ASD.

That seems so odd to me that heat takes your energy away, i get that you may not want to do things due to heat even though i do not feel the heat like that. On the crochet front, will not using a thinner yarn make the item you create more likely to be see through? I can crochet just not practiced at it, grandmother showed me how long time ago. Also, if you have sensitivity to heat, will not wearing a crocheted item run the risk to hold in heat? Always thought yarn based items were winter mainly but i do not employ many of them personally these days.

The air fryer is my alternative of choice when it is hot, but I don't put it outside... it is significantly less heat than an oven or stove. I do have a smoker outside that I try to use more often. I flip the breaker off for the oven once summer rolls in and I have to be convinced to turn it back on (I am never convinced). My family says that I am unreasonable, but I don't get their lack of understanding of the logic. We spend a lot of money to keep the house cool and comfortable... why do I want another box on that takes a lot of money and turns it into ~400 degrees and then makes my AC work even harder to cool it back down? That is nuts... and it seems simple. EDIT: Oh... not having AC... that is killer. HVAC become one of my SPINs last year and I installed a heat pump to replace my AC (because it died). There are really affordable and efficient options out there these days that are relatively DIY-friendly. I can provide details, if you're interested.
