Sad news everyone. Shuuichirou Moriyama, the voice actor of Porco himself, passed away this Monday due to pneumonia. To me, this still is the best Studio Ghibli movie and his passing leaves now a giant hole in my heart. I will always remember this movie and this character as one of Miyazaki's finest and most charming... Shuuichirou Moriyama gave such a heartfelt performance for Porco that it'll stay with me for the rest of my life. R.I.P. Shuuichirou Moriyama, you will be dearly missed.

This movie is so underrated, It gave me inspiration, and touched my heart really deep, the character of porco rosso, and how he was disappointed with the humanity, reminded me of myself. I always loved aviation, planes are the reason why i want to carry on happily with my life. Pilots were treated like celebrities, in the 1920s and early 30s , this movie represented their image perfectly, in a simple and understandable way. Hayao miyazaki admired antoine de saint-exupéry, and i think (in my opinion) that he wanted to show us how pilots lived in the days back then and how romantic were their stories.

Porco said “a pig that doesn't fly is just a pig” You can do it, but you don't. It's a waste to have a situation where you want to do it but don't. Being ahead of your feelings and doing nothing is the opposite of being cool. "a pig that doesn't fly is just a pig", we can do it, but as long as we don't do anything, we are just a pig.
