this song. Oh my god. I found this song a few months ago, around August or september. At first, I didn’t pay much attention to it, but I listened it to more and I literally fell in love. Since then, I’ve been listening to it nonstop, even now. It is by far my favorite song ever made. Everything about the guitar, lyrics, melodies, and every single barely noticeable little detail is engraved in my mind I stg. Finally having a favorite song ever is the greatest feeling. Sometimes, it will just start playing on my playlist and I will literally just start crying. I don’t even have any bad memories attached, it’s just so beautiful and makes me so happy that my eyes will start to water. This song actually changed my life, and I’m so glad I found it because now I have a huge porcupine tree obsession. I would die for this song

@Pablo Saavedra I think it’s about a paedophile or someone who kidnaps people for sexual purposes. The first and third verses, and the choruses are about why they are the way they are (childhood trauma, mental health issues). The second and fourth verses are about what they do with the victims. They take them to the woods and rape them, and get sexual release from seeing the victims cry.

@jeanlundi2141
Жыл бұрын
I don't like Pink Floyd at all. You can see PF influence insofar as there are some harmonies SW is a fan of that he incorporates into his music that resemble some stuff PF did........but that's where it ends. People with small musical vocabulary tend to think every band is similar to some other band. But PT may sound like Neu! or other progs more than even Pink Floyd.
@MarceloKatayama
Жыл бұрын
@@jeanlundi2141The PF influence goes much further than the harmonies or chord progressions. The sky moves sideways was based on PF, as were fragments of voyage 34, and most of the early albums. The more ambient style of the Barbieri-Wilson combo definitely sees pink floyd influence on Steven's part, what with the textural synths and the use of organ in a similar vein to Richard Wright's work. If you've only listened to the metal years of PT, then the comparison is a lot less obvious, though there still is some evidence of it, such as arriving somewhere and other songs like .3.
@jeanlundi2141
Жыл бұрын
@@MarceloKatayama Sky Moves Sideaways was an homage to PF, yes. Floyd is there in Wilson's sound as any other band that influenced him, even if their one of his favourites. For me it's a amtter of musical vocabulary sorry. Most people hear a synth soundscape and think of Floyd. lol, so there's no way to do one without people thinking of Floyd. Did Wilson do them because one of his favourite bands did? Sure. But I'd never say the sound is similar. Just like I wouldn't say their metal phase resembles Meshuggah, and yet you can clearly see some influence in many instances.
@MarceloKatayama
Жыл бұрын
@@jeanlundi2141 It sort of depends on what song we're talking about. For instance, the more twinkling synths in the sky moves sideways definitely resemble some of the synths in shine on. Voyage 34 does use the particular combination of that sort of disco guitar with psychedelia that Pink Floyd also sort of did. I do agree that just because they used synths it doesn't mean they are automatically similar to PF. They still have a lot of things in common, though.

Great Intro songs. Then might as well have them listen to those 2 albums in its entirety In Absentia and Signify. Since Blackest Eyes and Trains are first 2 songs from that album. Which is a favorite album for many PT fans. Remember Wilson wrote for the album. Interestingly Ive played the whole Signify album for ppl not into PT with success. Then Dark Matter particularly after 5 and a half minutes in is an absolutely climatic moment. That Dark Matter solo is terrific. That's a good 3 songs to start them with though. Half Light has a 100% failure rate for me. Too slow a build up I guess.
