The National Government is expected to meet with the Enga Provincial Government and landowners of Porgera Gold Mine to discuss ways forward for the mine.
Enga Governor, Sir Peter Ipatas, told parliament last week that the Special Mine Lease for Porgera will end in August after 30 years of operation.
In response, Prime Minister, James Marape, said there will be discussions between the different parties involved.
But Marape said the country’s resource laws will be the reference point for all discussions including new arrangements for the Special Mine Lease.
