Great review, bought a 991 gen 2 c4s last year. Don’t be put off with the later cars turbos, personally I like the noise and the torque is incredible. The key to resale values in these cars is the option list, plenty of ‘average’ 991’s out there, must have sport chrono and sport exhaust as an absolute minimum. Don’t worry about the stereo, you won’t hear it over the road noise, staggering grip but can still break away in the wet, so glad I paid the extra and gave the F type a miss.

I purchased my C4S in 2014. After 64,000 miles over 8 1/2 years, she still calls to me every weekend to ride the hills of CA. I retuned her with a Softronic retune and replaced her muffler with a valved center muffler bypass by FVD, Brombacher edition. When driving at full throttle, the valves open and she sounds like a GT3 Cup Car. HP is up to 441 and torque to 362. What a joy to own.

I have this same car in black/black - looks absolutely stunning - pretty much exact same spec, but no sunroof - agree it is not the same-head turner as green lambo, but I have had several people come up and say how much they like it. I have Pirellis & agree with road noise - but highly dependent on road surface - not a big problem on tarmac - VERY noisy on concrete (e.g. parts of M25 south section in UK). One option I wish I had is tyre pressure monitoring. Thanks for the video.

I went from a 997.1 to a 991.2. I opted to skip the 991.1 since I already had an n/a in my 997, the engine howl above 4.5k rpm was intoxicating. I liked the new turbo engines, you get a lot more for very little trade off (noise, negligible turbo lag). The .2 can make huge hp gains with a cheap tune and some bolt ons and can sound just as nice as a .1 with its burbles and crackles. I’ve found .2 prices to only be about $10-15k more than .1’s as well so to me it was a no brainer.

The 991 is underrated and depending on options with be coveted in the near future. Its design isn’t dated like the neo-vintage 997 but still maintains the curviness and NA engine of 911 past. The 992 is a gorgeous but no NA and less curvy. Just depends what you want.

just watched this and your camaro zl1 review. love the style of your channel and reviews, no hyperbole, long winded nonsense or horribly wack jokes. Just the nitty gritty. So quick question, would you choose a newer non-turbo like this or a 07-11 turbo 911 in a similar price range?
@MeynMotorGroup
3 жыл бұрын
Hey thank you so much my friend really humbled that you appreciate my approach! So that's a tough question, although I havent driven the 911 Turbo from that generation, I think I may still have to go with the 991 as I really enjoy the looks of it, I know that sounds pretentious but it does look like a new car. 991 might be easier to get warranties and cheaper finance rates since it is newer. Also refinement was a huge factor when producing the 991 yet it is still so loud inside the cabin so the 997 will most likely be even louder in the cabin. So for those reasons I may have to lean towards 991 but the 997 turbo will probably hold its value a bit better but hard to say

I know you briefly touched upon it in the video, but would you mind expanding your thoughts on a comparison between this car and a similarly priced CPO 2018 LC 500?
@MeynMotorGroup
3 жыл бұрын
I would avoid the 2018, the reason why the 2018 is so cheap is because the ride was really rough and transmission didn't perform that well under mid throttle applications. 2019 and up all those things were fixed but will cost a lot more 2019 CPOs are in the 75k range. But LC is def a far more charismatic and fun driving experience but most Porsche people dont want to hear that. Mainly the refinement is so much better on the LC even with run flats, less than half the tire noise, you mainly hear the engine and exhaust which is whats important. Sliding the LC is effortless and easy as well. Both cars ride about the same but I'm referring to the 2019 and up LC

@@MeynMotorGroup can I ask if your statement is specific to only the LC 500 or does it include the LC500h with the e-CVT? I would prefer a hybrid engine (cause a 30mpg sounds nice in this economy) but I'm not sure if it's as fun as it's revered V8 cousin

Hi Bill, thanks so much for stopping by, yea I can't lie to you, I don't think the 911 will feel drastically different from your Cayman unless you step up to one of the GT3 models which is just so much money. You also own a very epic Jag F type S, which is one of my most favorite sports cars and probably more fun than the Porsche 911 in my opinion. I think the 911 is solid and has good resale value, but your 6 cylinder Cayman will also have gold resale. If you want different, honestly a Hellcat, ZL1, or new Shelby GT500 is def a different experience from what you currently have if you want to lease something like that new with a warranty but not sure if those cars will be your cup of tea, def fun tho

Was going to Dunkin’ Donuts with my dad one day after Easter getting a cuppa coffee pulled in I was trying to find a 997 .2 manual for the longest always missed it by an hour or the car was a cross country and I was too hard to schedule airplane tickets got bored of looking for one and I’d like to be outside of the 991 on the sticker it’s at 991.12013 911 S 2 s. So no all wheel drive it was a PDK car which is basically automatic I was taking it for a test drive just to see what it’s like and I thought I was gonna hate it but I said what the hell there’s nothing else to do it on Monday after Easter so took it for a test drive and let me tell you something. I did not know how. To put the ink to the pencil purchased a car late afternoon and picked it up the very next day yes I have a Bose system but let me tell you I listen to the radio of the engine that flat six naturally aspirated is sounding like a Ferrari F3 55 it’s not better those are big statements I just said sounds better than a Ferrari I love the car that the lord Jesus. Gave me and my wife I waited five years patiently and when you wait on the Lord he will bless you not on your time but his that day I did not know I was buying a 911 God works in mysterious ways I thought I was going to wait for 997.2. On my test drive believe it or not I found a 2010 Porsche 911 manual so I pulled the 991 next to it and realize that I was kind of over the 997 and was happy to go forward with my purchase on my test ride with the 991 I knew it was meant from God. My wife told me to wait on the Lord and I am blessed happy and content that is an awesome car if you were in a market for it So …. Yes Get your self. A 991.1. Naturally aspirated you won’t be disappointed

Lc 500 vs 911 Carrera S is funny comparison. A 911 is a automobile icon! LC 500 is nothing actually; might be a good car but its meaningless. Dont eant to be rude but not every car has history nor achieved so much. A 911 is a somptous and unique flat 6 at the rear of the car, not a generic front engine. Shape of a 911 is iconic, not a fashionable one time ok looking car. A 911 has a unique sound since 1965... etc Its an icon.
