My dimmer shaft was broken and the person responsible decided to super glue and blutac it back back together hoping I'd never notice. Bought the replacement shafts from Ric and followed the guide step by step. Fantastic guys, many thanks for this instruction. Hardest part, ensuring no dust on the inside of the instrument panel before reassembly. All working again.

Firstly many many thanks Rick for making this product. I fitted it to my 996 today to fix a snapped instrument cluster shaft, and it works great. It's a fantastic saving versus £300+ for a used one off ebay or a new one at £2,000+.Whilst following the very clear instructions I also learnt the following during the installation process (times in brackets):(55 seconds) Before prying out the hazard switch surround, place masking tape all the way around the outside of the surround. The 996 trim has a very think layer of plasticised paint on it, it is very easily damaged, even when applying almost zero force.(3 min 27 seconds) Whilst undoing the top clip, wiggle from the bottom edge, where you will already have freed two clips. I found it was possible to free the top clip by wiggling from the bottom, rather than using the tool to push down on the top clip.(6 min 12 seconds) I found the knobs would not slide down the stalk far enough. When I examined the new and original stalks closely, I realised the original stalks had very small "grooves" in them which the new ones didn't. I cut grooves into the new ones with a scalpel, then it fitted perfectly. Thanks again Rick, great product!

Great work, just replaced the clock setting arm on my 986, wasn't half as bad a job as I was excited expecting that is to this video 👍

I just did this repair with your product. Works well. Only took about an hour to do it.

Just did this and you made it look a lot easier than it was for me. :) Got it done but, man, I hit a couple of snags. When you say protect the dash with tape, you REALLY need to tape it up all over. I got a couple of nicks further away that I didn't expect. Also, getting the clip off around the hazard switch was harder than expected. Once off, everything was fine. Also, putting it back on I dropped the driver side screw and had to remove everything again to get to it, which added like 25 minutes. :(

I have just had the bulb behind the clock go out and this video is excellent in explaining how to remove the cluster but how much extra work is involved in changing a bulb? Many thanks

Just get a replacement unit off eBay ? They're cheap as chips, and the odometer can be reprogrammed.

Sure yeah but why not do the job for 1/10th the price and not have the hassle of reprogramming? The unit has to come out either way.
