Eine der besten Reperatur Story´s die ich je gesehen habe. Superklasse gemacht und sehr gut erklärt.

Another topic that is worth covering is how to do the cam timing for these engines. There are plenty of videos for m96 and m97 but nothing for 9a1

Correct and to be honest not many shops know what to do either, this engine is complicated especially for dyi people

Great video series bro, glad the build came together well. Did you follow the Porsche workshop manual for all torque settings and what kind of sleeves did you run in the end?

Thank you for the great series! I want to ask what tool do you use to manually turn the crankshaft pulley on the 997.2 ? Also, I think it will be of great value to post a videos with the tools you need to do proper engine rebuild.

Crank bolt 😉 Thank you for watching I hope you subscribed

There is no single crank bolt like the regular pulley. It is 6-7 torx head bolts that hold the pulley.

@@ivanpeev4946 oh thats right the timing tool had a crank adapter that sits over the crank bolts, I used that

when you're balancing pistons removing material is there chance throwing the piston out of balance or you depend on experience? great series!
@ThatLigarage

Pistons follow the bore and they have material removed for valve clearance and the intake valves pockets are bigger then exhaust so they are not Balanced from the factory and on these particular pistons he wrist pin is off centered throwing balance even further off. In a nutshell pistons are not balanced only to each other.

What did they do to the cylinders? You said you were going to have them sleeved but it did not look like sleeves are the old cylinders alusil or plated

How hard was it too separate case halves....i'm having a hard time separating cases.....thanks
@ThatLigarage
Жыл бұрын
yes it was extremely hard because its near impossible to pull out the wrist pins out the 3 pistons so I ended up getting a wrench on the rod bolts and removed the rod caps to separate the block. i think theres a special tool for removing and installing the wrist pin c clips but I couldn't find them for sale anywhere. It took my wife and I 3 hrs to put the clips in on assembly. If you do find that tool please share with me. I do have it for the 996 motors but not for this one.

@@ThatLigarage I was referring to the case halves themselves....i made a tool to remove circlips and i was able to remove wrist pins with the odd head bolts that are outside of engine. i cut heads off bolts and welded 3 bolts together..fits wrist pins perfectly...had to end up making a separating tool to split case halves....great videos thank you

@@ThatLigarage the tool is number 9191 cam timing tool....believe its for the 964 or 993 ....end of it is perfect taper to fit the tapered wrist pin..i simply cut a slot on the end of tool with my cut off wheel....worked so good it scared me....removed circlips instantly....now i need to design the tool to inject the circlip like the 996 engine. thanks.
