I’m fortunate to have owned a few 914’s. My first one was in 1986. Currently I have a 914/6 with a 2.5 six with 40 Zeniths. A 914 V8 and I am also in the process of constructing a track only 914/6 GT

The 914 looks grow on you , way after you come to realise the inner beauty of the engineering.

Thank you for a really nice overview of a great car that many people are un-aware of. I remember so clearly go to my local Porsche dealership in my TR7 & wishing I could afford the 914. I remember seeing the sticker price of 8,800.00 which was about 2,500.00 more then the TR7 at the time which back in 77 was a hugh leap. Interestingly they already started receiving 924s but the 914 still pulled at my heartstrings. People really need to drive one before they judge one. BTW, you have a great channel, I'm hooked & now subscribed!

Thank you 😊 I really appreciate your support to my channel and that’s mean a lot for me 5-6 years ago I was looking to buy one and then the prices went up and Was little disappointing but they are still affordable and maybe one day 😊👍 thank you 😊

@@kirisgarage8590 I know what you mean. I am keeping my eye open for one as I have never gotten over that day at the dealership & isn't the real magic of vintage cars mainly buying back memories. My friend had a black 914-6 that I spent a lot of time with, it truly is a go cart for the street. What may surprise all the nay sayer's of the 914 is the great car historian, Donald Osborn loves the 914. And if it's good enough for him it should be good enough for any car lover. All the best

Let's review the 1970 24 hours of LeMans and see which first "streetable" car came in ahead of all the 911s and a few full out non-streetable cars as well.. Well, I think that answers the subject line of this video!

The lesser known sibling that could. I’d gladly give a 914/6 a loving home.

0:44, Correction, the design was a Porsche design, not Karmann...although Karmann did build the bodies. Heinrich Klie of Porsche was the engineer that designed the 914. There were also rumors that a Germany company, Gugelot designed the 914, but that is false as well. The 914 was NOT VW's idea of a Porsche as I have heard people say. The design was all Porsche. Only the 914-6 ever saw the inside of the Porsche factory however and in that respect, although there were VW parts on the /6, it was and is all Porsche.
