Bought my springs for my 991.1 GTS and came across your channel... I enjoy the relaxed yet detailed style... great lighting and you can see what the task is as well as which bolts are being removed etc....It's given me the confidence to fit my springs on my driveway....... Not sure why I need confidence as it's only nuts and bolts no matter how expensive the vehicle is.. LOL! When it's your money your playing with you don't want to give your baby to a backstreet mechanic but Porsche wont do it...Solution, DIY with Performance engineering to hold your hand... LOL!!!!!

Thanks for the feedback. That's the aim for doing these videos is to help people who may want to give it a go themselves. Most of the tasks are pretty straightforward for most DIYers once you see how it can be done but I do understand when the value of the vehicle gets pretty high you get more cautious but its all relatively similar in design. If you get stuck just fire a message in the comments and I'll do my best to help you 👍

Id have thought the lowering springs alone would be enough without having to lower that C-Clip?
@performance_engineering
2 жыл бұрын
You can leave it on the original setting but you may find in relation to the front it doesn't sit right, still sits quite high on the oem level on the C clip.

Great video. I’m watching because i believe my front struts or strut mounts are the culprit of some front end/steering wheel vibration I’ve been chasing for the better part of two years. Curious, do you have the various torque specs for the front?
@performance_engineering
2 жыл бұрын
Hi Ryan. Glad you enjoy it. That's strange your issues, top mounts don't tend to cause vibrations. When do you experience the vibrating
@ryanlipton6491
2 жыл бұрын
@@performance_engineering thanks for asking. Vibration roughly 55-75, though the entire front end feels very unstable. Been through various shops with road force balancing. Have been through three sets of wheels and three sets of tires, to include winters. Wheel repair shops confirm my wheels are true. Control arms look good. Wheel bearings feel strong (no play and no clunking). Brakes are fairly new. No warped brake-type vibration. A couple of months ago I replaced the inner and outer tie rods. I convinced myself if got better, but it hasn’t. Really disheartening. I’m taking to a professional race shop next week for an alignment and a closer look. When I stand in my front trunk and jump up and down, there is a noticeable squeaking coming from both struts. I’m hoping I have found the issue. Sitting on original struts with 66K miles. All this is to say I am considering replacing the front struts/mounts/bearings. Planning to do myself, which is why asked about the torque specs for re-assembly. Also, i noticed that unlike the rears, you didn’t remove the whole assembly in the front. You left the mount attached to the frame. Should I be worried that the spring will explode? I’m Assuming that’s why the jack is necessary on the bottom of the control arm. What about for re-assembly, do you use the jack to compress the spring and get the damper through the mount?

@@ryanlipton6491 Sounds like a right nightmare your having chasing down your vibration issue. Might sound a little silly but have you checked the rear discs as sometimes vibrations can transmit through the car making you feel it from a certain side. Yes the jack helps release to load/tension in the front springs, your shouldn't have any issues once you release it with a jack and believe the torque spec is 120nm for the top strut nut (not 100% as this info is hard to get hold of). Hope this helps

The H&R lowered it around 25-30mm over a non PDCC GTS. Doesn't sound much but it looked brilliant and the ride was near enough the same as stock.
