They don't favor left hand people. In the old Le Mans races, drivers had to run across the track to get in their cars. As a result, starting a car with the ignition on the left side of the steering wheel was quicker. Porsche has continued this race inspired tradition with even their modern cars. Good video by the way. Love the induction noise you get from a Cayman. Don't even need a radio.

Actually I was speaking to a porsche engineer a few weeks back on a flight. He pretty much just said they already had the left hand ignition developed for Le Mans and the engineers back then were to lazy to move it over to the right. Same reason the gas pedal is floor mounted and not suspended by a hinge! but yes, every porsche just makes music

Window roll feature is on a lot of cars, like a Nissan 350Z, which by the way Nissan ripped off Porsches door handles .

I have a similar year Cayman S. Why in the world would you get it with an automatic? It's slower, gets worse fuel economy, and much more boring and gives you less control than a manual. Plus it weighs more and they even charge extra for it! It looks really weird to me to see an automatic like that in a Cayman. When I saw 6:38 I thought I was looking at the Cayenne
+VeryFriendly Nihilist Maybe you can ride a bus. The driver will do everything for you. Pretty soon you're own car may have automatic braking, steering, and throttle as well as shifting. Sounds like a real drivers car where you let the programming do everything for you. The 2009 manual is faster than the automatic. Plus it has something called "fun" that you don't get by looking at a spreadsheet.

+Wyatt Hicks Not without a clutch pedal. If the car is faster handling throttle, braking, and steering from you will you be happy to give those up as well in an autonomous "drivers car"? It's all about meaningless numbers to you isn't it? You're gladly give up actually enjoying driving the car if it means better numbers on paper. I'd prefer to actually enjoy driving a car I'm buying for the fun of driving.

+VeryFriendly Nihilist What are you talking about? Automatics are for old grandpas that are too uncoordinated or old to operate a clutch and gearshift. Sounds like maybe I'm talking about. Did your daddy never teach you to drive a stick or maybe you're old and feeble and can't operate it? The only legitimate reason I could see getting an automatic on a sports car is if you have an injury. Shifting gears is one of the greatest pleasures you get driving a sports car. Does the steering wheel get in the way of driving too? Or would you rather pretend to drive with a game on your phone and consider driving an actual only for old people? PDK is designed for the wives that don't know how to drive a manual.

+VeryFriendly Nihilist Let me get his straight. You're talking about a 2 door, 2 seat mid engine sports car with little interior room (although great trunk/frunk storage) and you're main use for it is to sit in traffic? You know what else makes the Cayman a nuisance? All the engineering that goes into a sports car to make it responsive, lightweight, grip well, accelerate and handle light a dream when you're actually moving. A sports car isn't primarily designed to sit in traffic. If I'm going somewhere with bumper to bumper traffic I'll take a 4 door, cushy luxury car with numb steering, a floaty ride, and an automatic transmission. When I want a car that's fun to drive on twisty mountain roads, an open highway, or my favorite backroads I take a manual sports car. Maybe something like a Mercedes S class, Lexus LS, or minivan/SUV is more of what you want to sit in stop and go traffic

Errr... Mid engineness does not help to keep the center of gravity low... However it does keep it very balanced with the majority of the weight in the center

Exactly, at best, the boxer engine configuration might keep the center of gravity low, but it's actually not particularely low in this model.
