featuring two of the remaining mines in the Tywarnhayle.Valley, firstly Tywarnhayle mine up top, and Taylor's Engine House which housed a 58″ Pumping Engine below.
In a 1906 re-working this was the site of the first electric centrifugal pump used in Cornwall. The mine worked from 1826-1907 producing 115,388 tons of Copper. The electrical generating house ( big two storey building by the road ) can be seen below Taylors engine house.
Secondly Wheal Ellen mine with it's castellated engine house chimney, which was built in 1866 to accommodate a 70 inch pumping engine which was never installed. The mine ceased operations around the time the house was completed. It is located across the road from Tywarnhayle Mine.
