This was great trip down memory lane! Lived in a road opposite The Queens Hotel after moving from London when i was a kid. Southsea Common , the beach and surrounding areas were our playgrounds. Spent many Saturday's at the roller skating rink. Bought back fond memories of being a kid & long hazy summer days roaming free and having fun. Thank you , from Toronto.

I was 14 and living in Stubbington then. 2.40 is Portchester Castle, and wow kids doing exercise and sporty stuff (now they just exercise fingers on phones and keyboards).

Better times, before mobiles (and other technology) took over the world. People got out and did things, and spoke to each other face to face, without the rude distraction of phones. Good memories !!

yes, it was so much better in the early 80's... AIDS, homophobia, racism, sexism... but those pesky phones are so awful Karen :DDDDD

Yet you're currently on the computer, writing an anonymous comment (i.e. not speaking face to face). And the only reason you're able to do any of that is thanks to the technology of which you are so critical. I hope the irony is not lost on you.

Some many people in comments "much better without all the technology, people spoke face to face" etc etc. Using your computer/phone, using wifi, using youtube, just to write that comment (i.e. communicating anonymously). The only reason you are able to view this video at all is with all that technology. I hope the irony is not lost on you.

Hate this Portsmouth AND Southsea. Southsea is in the city of Portsmouth. #Portsmouth and it's resort of South sea is correct
@KaitainCPS

+matt68 The distinction presumably dates back to the days when Portsmouth meant what is now "Old Portsmouth". The main train station on Portsea Island is of course "Portsmouth & Southsea".
