I have seen a few videos of the O events in the hills...there are more boulders in 3 square meters than we have in a 8000 acre park!!! I like your momentary overlay of route options as they show when commentators are discussing the WOC events... heres a big cup of coffee ☕

I think you did very well. Sprints are always difficult for me because I am overpassing turns. Very tricky for my mind to keep up with my legs. 😀

Incidentally...there has been research performed that shows the energy required to climb 21 meters over a hill is equal to the energy needed to go around that hill by 100 meters...basically a 1:5 ratio...

Probably something like that, but it’s just hard for me to keep up with contours on sprints sometimes

In the forest it is typically 1:7, i.e each meter of climb corresponds to 7 meter of flat running. There are lots of other factors of course, like trying to find paths or bare rock ridges for uphill parts, but the 1:7 ratio is a good starting point.
