Very cool update dude! The ability to change the position of the fingers of the hand is very cool! Previously, I made a simple mannequin of a man in a blender and started from it in the drawing. But your app saved me a lot of time! Thank you very much! It will definitely be necessary to thank you for your efforts with a donation!

Thanks for your kind words! Hi, I never thought that would be relevant or interesting for anyone :) But if you want to know, yes Poseit is my little (not so little anymore) fun project, I develop it alone, I am Italian, my name is Maurizio Nitti, you can check what I did in the past on Linkedin, but in short I have worked for Disney Research in Zurich for the last 12 years, now I work for Meta. I am a total noob coder, I basically started coding with this app, but Unity simplify things so much and has a comunity so huge that I managed to wrap my head around the first version of Poseit. All the progress and furhther development was motivated by this little fantastic user base that decided to give poseit a chance and support it.

This is such an amazing app!! Im bad at anatomy, so every time i get I always try to practice. When a pose comes to mind but I can't make it anatomicaly correct I always search for reference BUT it's always so damn hard to find that RIGHT and SPECIFIC pose you have in mind that often I just make do with the closest possible I could find or just give it all up. But thanks to this app I can now realize those scenes and poses I had in mind to reality! Everytime! This really saves me all the effort! Thank you so much for making this app! You may not know how much this helped in preventing all those time spent in agony not being able to make the scenes I had in mind to reality.

I really struggled with posing models in other apps, it was just so overwhelming and it felt like I was constantly fighting with the program just trying to get a limb to move along the axis I wanted. I pretty much gave up on the idea of using them for reference in my art, which sucked because I thought they'd be so helpful. but this app!! I am amazed by how much easier it is to use, and how flexible it is. thank you so much for creating, sharing, and continuing to work on this program. I'll be buying pro across all my devices 😂

In my opinion, I think joint limits would be a useful option to have when posing all parts of the body 2:37 They help in preventing errors in posing and they save time. The reason I say this is because it's not very often that we want to break a character's fingers. About 99% of the time that we pose a character, we probably won't be breaking their bones. For this reason, I think it would be be useful to have joint constraints as an option in all posing situations. It would help us avoid frustrating errors and prevent body parts from twisting in unnatural ways, which we then have to correct. People should still be able to remove the constraints if they need that creative freedom for their characters, but I think many of us would want the constraints there because they're helpful 99% of the time. I would prefer if joint constraints were the default, but users should still have the option to remove them if they choose. Btw, thank you for this update. It really looks amazing!! :)
@mauri4912
Жыл бұрын
I see what you mean, I can definitely invest some time to make this an opt in/out choice. Consider though, that unlocked joints are not only useful when you want to completely brake a finger. Subtle movements off axis would be prevented too. But you are right, in the vast majority of cases you would save time. In the end it is more a decision about where should I spend my few hours per week of development. As usual it is you guys that drive the compass. If you think this is must I will shift my focus on this feature, limits in hinge joints should be easy, but don't ask me limits on ball joints, I wouldn't know how to implemented these 😅. Consider though It might delay other content, like more mannequins or props or new features. Anyway this kind of feedback is great. Only by knowing what you guys want I can make decisions. Thanks a lot.
@val2323
Жыл бұрын
@@mauri4912 Thank you for considering my feedback :) It's true that subtle movements off axis would be prevented by joint limits, and these subtle movements are useful for exaggerating poses. At the same time, I think exaggerated poses could be created more accurately if we create the hand pose using joint constraints first, and then just turn off the constraints to slightly tweak the pose into something that looks more exaggerated. I wouldn't try to create the exaggerated pose right away, because it's very easy to mess it up that way. It only needs a few minor tweaks for the pose to look exaggerated, because anything more than that would just make it look like broken bones. I understand that there are time limitations which make you need to choose what you focus on when working on this app. I love it when I see brand new features in each update, and I think you have continually improved this app in an amazing way. As much as I love the new features, I also appreciate improvements to existing features. I think any feature that makes creating poses easier, faster and more accurate is a very useful one. Of course, I also hope for a day where I can create an entire scene in a 3D posing app, but at the same time, basic features that make posing faster and easier are just as important. They help with productivity and they are the glue that makes complex features even more useful. This is my feedback based on my own experience. Of course, you need to consider everything you have planned and decide what's doable right now and what isn't. Focus on what you think is best. I appreciate all of the updates, regardless of what you decide to include in them :)

Mauri, thank you for the wonderful updates you keep bringing to PoseIt ❤ I would like to share with you a few feature suggestions for PoseIt. My suggestions relate to improving the FlexProps. Here are some additions that I think would be useful: *1)* Please consider adding some additional simple forms to the FlexProps. I suggest adding a *cone, right angle triangle, equilateral triangle, semicircle, half-sphere, donut-shape, and a flat plane.* The closest thing PoseIt has to a cone is the pyramid, but it’s not the same thing, and I think the cone has its own uses. The right angle triangle & equilateral triangle would be very useful for creating wedges. And wedges are very useful for building things. The semicircle is useful for designing props that contain some kind of arch in their design. The half-sphere would work well for adding dome-shaped elements to a prop’s design. The donut-shape is basically just referring to a circle with a hole in the middle, which can have a lot of design uses. I’d use it to design props like weapons, and build different kinds of objects to use in scenes. The flat plane can actually be created using the cube tool, so it’s not as essential as the other forms, but it can be useful because the cube is a little hard to modify into a flat plane. Since we modify the FlexProps by pinching, it’s a bit difficult to be precise. Maybe it’s because I’m using PoseIt on my phone, but a flat plane can easily turn into something much thicker, even though I’m using a very slight movement when I’m trying to pinch it into a flat plane. *2)* Allow us to *create our own props by joining different 3D forms together,* and then *saving the props* that we create for later use. Although you’ve added some really interesting props to the library, it would be impossible for you to add every type of prop that people will wish for. That is why it would be useful to add some ways that people can create their own props, and save those props for later use. This can be done if we model these props by joining different 3D forms together, and making sure that everything is grouped, so that everything will move together like it’s a single object. Once the prop has been created by combining the different 3D forms, the user should then be able to save their creation as a single prop in the prop library. They would then be able to reuse this prop again, whenever they need to. *3)* Give the option to *save variations of the same prop* that we built. Since morphs might be difficult to create for handmade props (that we put together by joining the different shapes), then maybe we can save different variations of the prop instead. For example, if I created a unique weapon for my character, and I used an elongated cone for the blade, I may want you save some variations of this weapon. Maybe the weapon transforms from a short blade to a longer blade. This means I’ll need a version with a shorter cone, and one with a longer cone. But I don’t want to create this weapon again from scratch, only to create a slightly different variation of it. So, I just want to modify the parts that need to be different, and simply save 2 versions of the same prop. *4)* This last one is more of an advanced feature, and it might not be as essential, but it can be useful, so I want to share the idea with you. In order to make the props that we build more useful, it would help if there was a way for the user to *add some type of rigging to the props,* in case those props need to have *movable parts.* I have no idea how rigging might work for props, but it would help to have a mechanism that acts like a hinge or lever, in order to pose certain parts of the prop according to how they’re supposed to move. For this, maybe you can get some inspiration from how human joints move, such as a hinge, lever, plane, swivel, ball & socket, etc. Also, you can look at how machinery parts move, such as moving on a wedge/inclined plane, circular motion, and a pulley. As I said, this is more of a complicated feature, but the gist of it is to make a prop as functional as possible, because in real life props often have movable parts. Maybe you can make this process simpler than I’m explaining it though. The point of these FlexProp features is to create a way for users to build any type of prop that their storytelling requires, as it would be impossible for you to provide every type of prop that users will need. These were my feature requests, and I hope that these ideas will help to give you some inspiration. You can also take a look at the 3D primitives in Clip Studio Paint for inspiration. What I like about the 3D primitives is that they are highly flexible in the ways they can be modified. On the other hand, some of the features that I’ve suggested are even more advanced than what the 3D primitives in CSP offer. Thank you for everything you’ve done to improve PoseIt, and I always look forward to the updates 😊

Have you thought about adding jaw movement to the 3D models? People have been asking for facial expressions, but facial expressions are more complex than simply moving the jaw. Making the jaw movable would help a lot with facial expressions, but it won't be as hard as making the whole face posable. Since the jaw has its own joints, it seems more feasible to make this part posable, than it is to focus on moving the muscles to create specific facial expressions. The face has a lot of muscles that contribute to facial expression, but the jaw only has a few joints and will move in limited ways, which means that jaw movement should be easier to accomplish. Opening and closing the mouth according to how the jaw moves is pretty important in getting the facial expressions right. If this feature is implemented, I suggest adding joint constraints to jaw movement as an option for the artist. Constraints help a lot, because it's very easy to mess up a pose without them.

I don't even use the pro features but I really wanted to show my support. Any chance of a button to move a mannequin/prop along the axis? I find that moving props and mannequins with the two finger gesture to be inprecise and frustrating most of the time. I found the channel while looking for solutions. Maybe I just missed the button to switch from "rotate" to "translate". Keep doing what you do, this app is a godsend

Few days ago i wanted to draw jinn, but i wanted to remove legs. U don't need to do it, i just think it's nice. If u add more animals, cats and dogs specifically it could really improve app. Or u can make cats and dogs playable figures, so that they can react to poses as well. Just a thought, u decide ofc. And can u add some kind of table? Perspective was never my strong side 😅 U don't have to, after all, you have yozr life, it's just few ideas for when u have time.

This is my favorite art tool of all time. Painting apps come and go but PoseIt is forever! I have some minor suggestions - first, it would be cool to be able to adjust the neck and hands and feet parts of the mannequin, such as with single-axis scaling, like you can with all the other bones. Secondly, for some reason I don’t seem to be able to get insert the mannequin head as an object anymore? That’s a real bummer…

i wish there is a head section when you can change the perspective, lighting and expression

Hi, there are no face expression but you can change perspective as in field of view from the camera button and lighting from the light button. Is that what you meant?

I have purchased the app and it’s pro edition recently; finding myself completely stupefied towards the capabilities of this app. If I may make a suggestion you should add a character that can have their muscle mass and age (wrinkles, sags, etc) scaled, say you wish to create an older and bony character. Facial expression and hair would be nice, clothing too, but I shan’t burden with any excess lip. No complaints just hopes for additional refurbishment of what is already a well-layed-out and overall great app.

Amazing update, the precision hand movements are very useful , although it'll take some time to learn how use, i would like to report a bug (i think) : i was toying around with the hands but didn't want the forearms to move so i looked them, now when i moved the hands the forearms still moved( wich is how it's supposed to work i think) but when i moved the hands upwards they would snap back down, but not to their original position, and after that i could barely make any movements of the hand with out it snapping aroung, i hope there may be a way of solving things, or that I'm just using it incorrectly. Still poseit is very helpful

love your app! would you ever consider adding any functionality to do keyframe animations with it? this could be super useful as reference tool for animations as well! just a thought.

Thanks! Oh yes I would love to play with that. My big problem is time. ATM I am completely out of time and energy but, who knows, maybe in the future...

@@mauri4912 well let us know what we can do give you time and energy 😆! I hear you though - I feel the same ways about things. Well here’s to wishing then - would love to use your app to help w/ roughing out 2d animations. I was inspired by this functionality when I saw the key poses automatically interpolate.

I like your idea about mixing and matching body parts to create a 3D model with a unique body. Have you thought about applying a feature like this to the posing system? What I mean is that it would be cool if we could mix and match the poses in the pose library. I might not find the exact pose I need in the pose library, but what if I could create a unique pose by mixing and matching different poses? Imagine if the body parts were separated into sections, and we could apply a pose to each specific part separately. So, if I like how the torso is posed in one of the saved poses, I can apply that pose specifically to the torso of my 3D model, without affecting any other parts of my model's body. Additionally, I can take the arm pose from another saved pose, and apply it to my 3D model. For the other arm, I may decide to take the arm pose from a different model and apply it to the arm of my 3D model. The same goes for the legs and other parts of the body. In other words, I wouldn't apply the pose to the entire body, but I would take parts from different models and mix them together to create a new and unique pose.

Believe me I was about to try that a couple of days ago, it would have been like you select a body part and every child part attached blends in the selected pose (yes I was thinking to introduce blends as well). Then I looked at the poses we have... you would have to look for the specifc, say, arm you want, then eventually other parts...I don't know suddenly it felt very clunky and I changed my mind. This is one of the feature I would love to implement If I had a lot free time just to see if it would be really useful...unfortuatly I don't have it for now : / Anyway I love all the ideas you had!! keep them coming

@@mauri4912 I think it would save time because it's easier to look through different thumbnails of poses and pick the aspects that we like, rather than creating a pose from scratch. It takes more time to pose a body part the way we want it because there's many details associated with achieving a good pose. When it comes to 3D, what looks good from one angle might not look good from a different angle, so I constantly have to rotate the model in order to tweak a pose. I think mixing and matching poses would save time because all we would have to do is scroll through a library of pose thumbnails and apply the parts that we feel would look good. It's faster to put on a pose on a model than it is to just create it from scratch. If you ever have the time for this, it would be interesting to see if a feature like this could be implemented.

The transparent function in taking photos seems to not be working and we seem to have lost the more detailed faces.

The detailed faces exist as blend shape of Adam and eve. Tap on the head and you will see a details slider at the bottom. For the transparent big, are you sure, the ground is now semitransparent but you still should have alpha. If so please send me an email, I would need some details. Thanks for the report btw

Hello matey, brought your app ages ago and still use it for sketching today! Was wondering though, I used to be a miniature sculptor back in the day and was thinking of trying my hand at 3D sculpting on the iPad. To save time do you think it would be possible to import poses from your software onto and iPad based sculpting program?
@mauri4912

Absolutely, just export the mesh as 3d model and import it into your sculpting software. I tested it in nomad sculpt and can recommend it. It's a great sculpting app
