Where should a right-handed opposite hitter start her approach? Some coaches like their opposites to start on the line or just outside the court. However, starting them out wider provides multiple advantages:
They have a clear view of the set
They can meet the ball straight on rather than waiting for it to cross over to their right shoulder
They can see the block better
They can still get to inside sets
While this wide approach lends itself to successful cross-court attacking, opposites also need to be able to hit the line shot. They can accomplish this by hitting wrist-away with their thumb down. Watch for a demo and more tips on training right-handed opposites.
