I have a passion for painting, but can both my affected side and my brain handle it after having a stroke?
As you can probably imagine, I've had to do a lot of physical and occupational therapy post stroke, and I mean A LOT! And a lot of times, I've found that diversifying what I do and trying different alternative therapy methods has been beneficial to me. Traditional exercises and stretches are great, but sometimes switching it up a bit is worthwhile.
Even though I am right hand dominant and my stroke affected my left side, I thought painting would be a fun alternative therapy method to try out. I've always loved art and I firmly believe that the more you enjoy what you're doing in therapy, the better your recovery will be and the stronger you will become. New challenges often yield new gains!
Will my floppy little uncoordinated left hand be up for the challenge? Tune in to find out!
