Thanks so much Julian. Watching your daily post bags saved me from squandering my life's saving and still enjoying the thrills of these frugal delights. I am a lot more selective in buying these electronic junks and so far I have done quite well. May be I should loosen my purse string a bit seeing so much fun you are having. And yes, be very careful about cutting out your address. We know where these treasures are kept.

Argh! Hidden screws discovered after the destruction. It's kinda galling that you can buy complete products including shipping for a fraction of the price of sending even an empty envelope in the opposite direction via Royal Mail.

Yes, I didn't think about screws behind the top panel sticker - silly me. But I really didn't want the housing this time. In fact, the housing makes a good protective cover for shipping and can be discarded if it's just the cell you're after. Now to test the cell capacity...

Julian Ilett Very curious how much it is. I had one from Banggood which was advertised as 2500mAh and when I opened it it had a 18650 in it marked 1200mAh. When I tested it varied around 800 to 850mAh. I inserted a 18650 from a laptop batt pack that I obtained for free and was a real 2400mAh. Good enough to almost fully charge my phones batt and fits in my pocket without people wondering what it is.

I learned a lot from you. Ended up making a Bluetooth speaker. 15x2 Watt + 30 Watt Sub-woofer. I do need help on Buck\Boost converter. It gets quite a lot hot.

I think I've never used those constant current drivers with the diodes mounted, because I never ran them from AC. And when running them on DC, the two diodes, even if they are Schottkys, just waste power, so I always desoldered them. The pins aren't very useful to connect anything easily, so they always have to go, too ;) . The missing diode makes me wonder. I long suspected that those drivers with the halogen bulb pins on them are the rejects that didn't make it into a real halogen-replacement-LED-bulb because they failed some spec.

4 is the minimum with one watt LEDs...if you have 3 watt ones then you can run 2 with it ..that's 6 watts capability and you'll be running them hard but it's fine nonetheless n within driver specs...however 2, 1 watt LEDs will go poof...so a minimum of 4 is required to meet the spec of the driver instead of the driver meeting the spec of the LED with the 3 watt example...

Would be interesting to know if the battery really has at least the 2200mAh, or you got Banggood as your favorite site now!

Yes - I'd also love to know what the real capacity of this battery is. If it's anything close to 2000 mAh then it's a winner for £2.52!!

Just like I have been opening my own post bags. That battery looks like it is reclaimed from a dead laptop battery, I reclaim myself and they look exactly like that. Probably used battery that's why they are so cheap.
