I'm reading the average and preferred height would be 12" - 18". But my guy has the pipe roughed in so the faucet will be 24" above the burner and it seems ridiculously high, like almost touching the bottom of the range hood. :(

If the MegaLock never comes loose, how will you get the faucet off your demo setup? How will you get the faucet off for repair or replacement? Don't need and don't use that threadlock! Also the setscrews in the pot filler collar and the flats on the shaft are what keep the pot filler in position ("so it won't spin anymore"); not how tight it is screwed to the pipe! The allen screws screwed into the round of the shaft will NOT hold it in position. However, you did not put the pot filler in all the way into the wall so the allen screws are unable to engage the flats on the base of the pot filler. The flats are easily visible on the base of the pot filler! It should be about another 1.5 inches into the wall! The collar should be attached to the wall BEFORE the pot filler is attached. Loosely fit it and mark the screw holes first and drive the screws in. THEN screw in the filler itself. Why not just use a horizontal 2x6 flush with the studs? The drop-ear cannot support the weight of the pot filler. Just run the pipe through the 2x6 add an elbow and strap it to the back of the 2x6 so it won't rotate when tightening. The collar then screws into the 2x6 through the finish wall. The load is then carried by the collar to the 2x6; not the drop-ear where the weight is constantly stressing the pipe joint.

The back splash is 3cm quartzite installed directly to the studs(no sheetrock) because the thickness of the material. Water line installed as in your video except it’s running down from attic , same drop ear mount. Hole already drilled out in quartzite for brass fitting. Problem: the flanges are too small in circumference relative to the existing hole. The screws are too close that hole and have nothing to bite into. I’m thinking long screws to reach the 2x4 where the drop ear is installed for securing the flange. ??? Any direction will help here… any one?

@@patricksimone1238 Good to hear. After watching your video I looked for reviews on pot fillers and the Imlezon comes highly rated. I've got a tricky installation to do, because tile is already installed and the walls are lath and plaster. Adding to that behind the stove at the center point is a wall for a small wash room. Inside the washroom at the point i would need to open up the wall to install the hidden plumbing is a medicine cabinet which may work out in my favour...no repairs necessary.

Great video but you made 2 mistakes. The first is you applied the Teflon tape the wrong way onto your threads. The second which is a big one to me, is that you applied force on the joints in order to tighten the pot filler to the nipple. Those joints are not designed to have force applied to them like that. What you should be doing is using a rubber strap clamp to tighten the base of the pot filler and apply torque that way. Other than that, your detail for the drop ear elbow offset and the capping plywood were great details. Keep up the good work.

My potfiller joint leaked behind a wall for 8 years & finally destroyed my hardwood floors & wall. I still don't know what caused the joint to leak & carrode as we're debating if we install another one or not. But your tip on not using force applied to the joints could be a big hints as to the cause of my leak. In 99.999% of the time leakage is due to improper technique. Thank you Suzuki kid!

Looking at your plywood mock up gave me an idea: Would mounting ply on top of the studs, rather than (or in addition to) mounting the 3/4 flush behind the drywall be a good idea? It would be an extra cut for drywaller, but I'm thinking it would be stronger overall.
