G'day Cheryl! Just watched with great interest, checked out the price on ebay and got a shock. We have made plenty of concoctions of different glue and cement mixtures over the years and have recently tried 50%powder mastic to 50% cement and got a pretty clay like result, sticky and firm - much cheaper option. At about 40 dollars for 40 kg and you can add sand and fibreglass for different properties.

The beauty of this product…. No fibreglass and it’s stronger than concrete and I don’t need a wire armature. I have worked in concrete and don’t get fine details as easily as I do with pal Tiya. There are cheaper products but this is also weather proof and its easy to use for mosaic with no sealing or pre preparation. Concrete has to be sealed otherwise it will not cope with sub zero temps. Concrete is also heavy to work with which compromises the size I can work with. Yes,,, you can certainly mix your own “product “ , but professionally I enjoy the ease and convenience of using this product. Good luck

I worked with mastic and concrete….. but I would not use it ever again now I use pal tiya. It’s also quite cheap when bought in large quantities

Is this one of your unique signature designs I would look for and know it’s your work? It’s beautiful! I would love to have a bowl. Do you sell these in the US?. You are so artistically talented! I love this! Thanks.

Sorry, no. I do not see these in the USA due to transportation costs. Frieght can be so expensive from Australia.

Love your technique. Great looking bowl. I’ll be trying it soon as I’m waiting for my bowl to dry. Lol! To confirm you are using green ware not a bisqued piece? Thanks so much.

For this technique I decorate when it’s not quite dry. This makes it easier to carve the line work into the bowl

Hello. I have seen in your movie that you use flux, what is it and where do I buy it? wish you would explain a little more about it. best regards Sanne Johansen 😃

it's me again, when you have flux in the underglaze, do you also use transparent glaze on top of the underglaze?

Hi Sanne. Flux is anything that as "fluidity" to a glaze or colour. In my ceramic work, the "flux" I am using is a clear glaze. I just add a 5% of clear glaze to my black underglaze to give it a lovely finish. If I dont add flux, I find that clear tends to go "milky" on the surface of the black instead of a lovely shiny clear. Some underglazes require a little flux to allow the glaze to adhere with the underglaze. Only some colours need this addition of flux. When you do tests with underglaze and glazes, you will work it out from your results. cheers and I hope this helps.

It depends upon the look you want. For my functional ware I apply a clear glaze over the top. For my decorative "pods" I do not apply a glaze. It is a personal choice. That is the beauty of creating,,,you can make a lot of choices!!!!!
