In the past, most potters had their own workshops and they manufactured various articles including drinking water pots, flower pots and various other products using clay. These items were brought to their own outlets in the market to be sold. From raw clay to the finished product, they follow steps such as preparing clay, throwing, forming, trimming, applying guru and polishing, drying, engraving, and firing. These steps have been established over the centuries by potters. Each step in the overall pottery process is an art and every piece of pottery we make is handcrafted. small kabok stones called guru gal found in river beds are crushed and made into a liquid which is then used to paint clay vessels. Today it is hard to find guru gal and we use a chemical to get the same effect
However, there is not much left in the business. Only a few youngsters from traditional pottery families are engaged in it.
