I just thought you might want to know what compost I use for my plants and I use a J.Arthur Bowers multi-purpose compost it cost me £9 for 100 liters and it's a fibrous compost it's light and fluffy and it holds moisture well . It has a few chunkz of compost but once broken up I find it works really well . And those plants on the packet look lovely can't wait to see the out come .

Have you tried coco coir as compost? They are sold at Wilkos for £3 and makes up to 40l. Also if you haven't got a riddle, they also sell at Wilkos (£5), might be a good investment to get rid of any lumps in the compost and garden soil. The thing with seed sowing, the set up costs can be prohibitive - compost, trays, heat mats, grow lights etc. Plus you need space and/or a greenhouse. Nothing wrong with getting bare root plants, instant and almost guaranteed successful gardening. You can buy and plant them right up until the end of Summer. Those Echinaceas are going to look great, hope they do well for you. Happy gardening:)
@westlondongardener4476

Hello my dear....yes i have coco coir blocks and its so light and fluffy so i will now use that for seed sowing....but i read somewhere its good for seed sowing but not good for established plants due to lack of nutrients. Yess i have a sieve, thats a great idea, thanjs for reminding me about that! Yeah its true about seed sowing and sometimes struggle to keep seedlings alive due to no grow light...bare root /bulbs are a great fuss free way to a lovely garden 🥰 look forward to sharing ❤
@EVERBEE_SEWING_BEE
3 жыл бұрын
@@westlondongardener4476 I'm currently experimenting, using a 60% coir and 40% compost mix. Hoping that will account for the nutrients, whilst keeping costs down. So far so good, early days so will see how it goes. Will let you know :)
