Maybe you should find a group. This s a fun hobby, pretty cheap (you can borrow books to roll up a character and just get yourself a set of dice), and a good way to spend an evening with friends. There's a huge variety of RPGs to suit every taste. Not into quasi-medaeval fantasy? Go for Traveler, or some of the steampunk games. It's also something social to do during lockdowns. Our crew started in person, and now almost 20 years later, we're gaming by Skype. There's nothing like sitting around a table with snacks and drinks and being part of a huge story with strangers who become friends.

I love how with the way I answer, Clover talks over my character who is incredibly meek and shy, and had what Clover would call a boring childhood at first, since she has loving, living parents.... who were devastated when Reoanaigh was taken away and used for experiments. And it makes sense Clover can't see her eyes, because in no way is my character making eye contact with Clover. Also the more Clover digs deep the less shy and anxious reoanaigh gets and the more her answers are just genuinely short and terse. This one worked out very well, usually I fumble a little, but Reoanaigh was ironically perfecty for this.

I love these, I'm developing a new character and using all your videos to bring depth to him. This one was actually the hardest, it made me have to pause and think. Thank you so much for all the amazing work you do.

I have a character idea for a campaign coming up, the short backstory is that she's a warlock who gave her voice away for the power she was given, and holds onto these books on how to handle situations to talk instead, to make it more realistic I'm going to actually be making 3 small books called: greetings, general help (like asking directions to the nearest inn), and small-talk, she will have a fourth empty one incase she needs something specific, but I'm just wondering if anyone has some interesting things she might have in them, like the greetings one including a joke about how not talking is just her having nothing nice to say. sorry this is long, I just ran out of ideas and needed help

Every time one of these videos comes out, me and my whole DnD group (VERY RP HEAVY, probably 90% rp, 10% combat) get into chat ASAP and we do them in character!! It's a friggin BLAST to do these little non-canon scenes with each other, hinting at backstory secrets and displaying each character's differences. The questions do a GREAT job of prompting the PCs with enough detail to show their personalities, while also remaining general enough to allow for a wide variety of answers! Seriously, EVERY CHARACTER responded SO differently to the situation and to Clover herself! Here are rundowns of 3/4 of the characters that went in our session last night: 1. Nari Wands-Amarillis, our suave/well-spoken/hedonistic/self-destructive/self-loathing/i'm-ok-i-swear/narcissistic noble half-elf "wizard" (secret tome warlock) And, once again, Nari saw a pretty girl and immediately started flirting (and drinking) to distract herself from the actual issues at hand!! Defensive lesbianism is both a blessing and a curse, but it's way more fun when you have voices in your head playing wingman :) I guess we can't blame her, though-- Nari's just built different, being the uncontested most-screwed-up-party-member. For reference, she a median dark core of 76% (population average is 46%...) and not a SINGLE score below 67/100! May Eilistraee guide her soul* more than that unescapable patron laughing for uncomfortable lengths of time in her ear. TLDR: "hey bb i mean if you NEED to study my physique closer u can ;) oh dont worry im always down to go deeper ;))) we should discuss this over dinner ;))))) im lonely but have been scarred by love so i cant commit to serious relationship help" 2. Spark, my very-conflicted/depressed/morally-grey/self-conscious/blunt/nerdy sage fire genasi artificer Spark, responds to Clover quite seriously. She thinks she was just here to pick up a translated romance novel she loves, definitely unaware she signed up to be written about. She only eventually caves into telling her complicated, nuanced, no-one-is-right-or-wrong backstory to find that Clover just keeps romanticizing the pain and suffering that war brought, and painting everything in black and white. Spark both wants to leave AND wants to prove Clover wrong and change her mind, so the exchange eventually boiled down to (a usually-quiet) Spark reacting with shock and pain at Clover's constantly overdramatic musings and boldly ranting at Clover about how wrong she was. Clover has a responsibility as a writer to portray serious topics like war, violence, and unnecessary death in a level-headed, honest, and proper way, but instead she interrupted Spark (as she insisted no one "wins" a battle if the other side "loses") to ask her about her EYES? The NERVE?! Spark thinks Clover is naive, simplistic, incredibly rude for ignoring her, and extremely full of herself (the need for fame and influence is a very bad trait to have, in Spark's I-had-a-politician-mom-and-she-sucked opinion). Every single question happens to perfectly hit something tender in Spark's violent wartime childhood, her views of herself, her opinions on literature, or her complicated views on her mentor figure. It's so targeted, Spark can almost swear Clover knows Spark much better than she lets on, and is mocking her. The whole thing is so infuriating that she acts "as heroic-ly as you portray me" and calls the guards over to Clover at the end. TLDR: "bro literally how are you hitting every single one of my insecurities AND can you PLEASE STOP fawning over my trauma." AKA "its called being morally grey, MOM" 3. Aanlaya Durinbold, our ditsy(but it's partly an act)/looks-obsessed/energetic/prissy/microaggression-prone/optimistic noble half elf sorcerer That reaction is very different from Aanlaya's! Half the time, Aanlaya was talking about mattress shopping because of the "leaving your old childhood bed" thing, but I'm pretty sure it was partially to distract Clover-- earlier on, Aanlaya gave a defensive response to being asked if she was bullied as a child, showed clear pain at being asked about her parents, and freaked out when Clover suggested that Aanlaya's parents could be dead (something is DEFINITELY going on there, but I don't know the full story yet....). She seemed ditsy, simple, and very prissily pleasant (think Weird Preppy Noble meets High-energy Extreme-extrovert Valley Girl), but only some of that was genuine. She did genuinely love the idea of being written about and becoming famous, however, going so far as to suggest a poster of her be sold with every copy of the poem. My favorite part had to be Aanlaya getting in Clover's face to pose for her or show Clover her eyes or sparkly golden hair EVERY TIME Clover asked for help describing her. Either that, or her using the word "funky" every 2 sentences and simplifying the art of poetry into "some funky rhyme-time action? Some rhyme-y words and stuff? Sounds fun!". TLDR: "this is- pleasedon'tnoticei'muncomfortable- fuuuuuun :) " Even in the first question, it's so instantly different!! Spark refused to pay for the drink because she thought Clover was getting ahead of herself, and also because she's basically traumatized by Nari's very concerning alcoholism and just doesn't approve of the stuff. Aanlaya immediately put her hands over her face and heart when she heard that Clover didn't have enough money, nearly cried, and then (in a well-meaning, but demeaning, slightly offensive, noble-y way) paid for them both without a second thought. Nari smoothly offered to pay almost immediately and then started drinking alongside her (to Spark's dismay). These have quickly become some of my favorite videos on KZitem and I'm honestly thinking about animating Spark's reaction to one! In the words of my DnD server nowadays, "If you don't love Ginny Di and her POV videos with a burning passion, get out of my sight" HAHAA *which she may or may not have** given up to an imp tattoo parlor to have "Bread" in Infernal put on her arm. **Seriously. She can't remember what she paid, but it wasn't money.

I love the rhyming couplets! My setting has a cursed item that causes the victim to only speak in rhyme. No player has yet to embrace this in several groups. (Though the yellow duck that forces you to say "quack" every time you speak is a lot of fun.)

A gold Grung with red spots wearing crude scale hide armor, a greatsword that is two times his size, and a headdress of bones, feathers, and random jewelry that is almost as tall as he is hops up to the seat across from you. Licks his left eye with a slick pink tongue before he responds. Chief Moak (Moe-ack) - "Grick nak snarven" (Grung langauage complaining), (Changes to common that he struggles with) "Chief Moak pay? Fine but you owe Chief Moak now." Grabs a handful of random coins and plunks them on the table. "Chief Moak no not of this....love you speak of. Chief Moak lost all he would love, now heart filled with hate. Spirits guide Chief Moak, Chief Moak last of the Blue Bog Eve Grung (BBEG)." "Chief Moak like this, you tell of Chief Moak greatness to all." "You no listen? Parents die before I grow legs. For having big ears dry skin you not hear so good." "How? Chief Moak grow from tadpole in bog after people slaughtered by dragon tribe. Spirits speak to Chief Moak all, old and young." "You dry skins are strange. Only spirits of my tribe keep me company. They teach me how to hunt, survive, fight, and call on them when I need them." "Chief Moak was born great. I was meant to lead my people to make others do the work in the muck and mud for us. Dry skins are weak when wet with Grung touch. That is why we are destine to lead them with a wet tongue...I think you call it an iron fist. Not sure anymore, some dry skins like my friend Rise listen to me. I not have to make them do as I want with touch but with words. Also, book of prayer given to me about Torm speaks of helping those that can not help themselves. Spirits call them weak, not sure anymore..." "Chief Moak left bog 2 years ago. Yes, Chief Moak 2 years old" "No joy and why would I leave with mayonnaise?" "Chief Moak's tribe was his teacher. Mocki, Mysac, Mekki, Maquc,...Cheif Moak had about 30 teachers. But Mocki is my favorite that is my Mother who taught me how to contact the spirits. Without her teachings I could not have learned the rest" "How to focus the rage of my people. To attack with recklessness and wreck my enemies with biggest weapon." "Chief Moak like rage. Rage is good for evil. Torm call it righteous fury." "Chief Moak hunt down dry skin who carry barrel with spirits of his people guiding him. Learn your crude language from dry skin. Make him show me by grabbing face and make mouth move. He say 'I'm just a farmer please don't hurt me.' Chief Moak win, he defeated enemy in battle so, take barrel, make him talk for days until he too tired to speak. Let dry skin go useless now but keep barrel of water. Never lose battle, undefeated. How you say, enemies underestimate Chief Moak." "Chief Moak no lose battle, but Chief Moak did lose...child. Blight Fang a black dragon taken from dragon tribe as an egg. Hatched to serve Chief Moak. She like killing enemies of Chief Moak. Vengeance best when one who would be an enemy is turned against them. Blight Fang want to kill everyone good or evil. Try to learn with her about Torm and who to kill or not. Now, she is taken from Chief Moak. Chief Moak sad, may need to kill Blight Fang if she join dragon tribe. She not like Chief Moak talk of Torm. Stands on the table. A squat 2'11" pot belly Gold Grung (think tree frog) with muscular arms and legs. Wearing a crude white dragon scale hide carrying a massive greatsword that is twice his size with runes on the blade. He also wears a headdress of bones, feathers, furs, and random jewelry mostly women's along with random nic naks as tall as he is. "You mean like a battle cry? Like, Vengeance belongs to Chief Moak, Torm gets what is left." "The price Chief Moak pays he has paid. Now it is his time to make his enemies pay, in blood" Leans against his sword. "Destiny set Chief Moak on this path. When I was denied the chance to see my tribe hopping in our home. Born crawling from the mud to see the broken bodies of Grung who lived before Chief Moak. That day, they too were destined, destined for death at my wet three fingered hands." "Dry skins that serve scale skin...Tiamat. Many in dragon tribe, too many to name but tribe and Torm say we must stop the one called Tiamat. Told she is queen of all evil dragons and dragon tribe. One day Chief Moak kill her for good." "Chief Moak kill many but two come to mind. They wear purple clothes one dry skin female the other a blue scale dragonborn male. They dead now but many more to kill. Dry skin friend Rise is good at finding dragon tribe. No good at fighting but good with nature magic, heal wounds good." "Once, magic take Chief Moak and new tribe to cold dry lands. Not find warm water for days. Had to fight enemies while drying out, not good for Grung skin." "It still not over. Tiamat still out there somewhere. Dragon tribe may be gone for now. But so long as Tiamat lives so does dragon tribe. Chief Moak learn this much and tell you this. Fight for your tribe and your tribe will fight for you. Lead your tribe well and your tribe will follow you. Fail to look after your tribe, lead them on the evil path, and your tribe will fail you as you fail them." ------- This is the original background for Chief Moak before his adventure. (Currently playing Tyranny of Dragons campaign as a Barbarian-Ancestral Guardians 8 / Paladin-Vengeance 2. Started LE grew to become LG) Chief Moak is the last surviving member of his tribe. The rightful ruler of the Blue Bog Eve Grung. The tribe managed to hide him as he was only a young tadpole in the muck under a rock. As his people were slaughtered by groups of would be slaves that called themselves members of the Dragon Queen - Tiamat. After the slaughter he rose from the water weeks later once he gained legs and more aware of his surroundings. He wandered the area hearing voices and sometimes seeing ghostly spirits of his now dead and long dead ancestors. They taught him their ways and spoke of the ones that murdered his tribe. For months he grieved the lose of his people, but before long that grief turned to anger. He trained for the better part of a year and spent the following year keeping close to the dry skins to learn how they speak. And in turn what they know about the dragon cult. He even managed to kidnap one such traveler to force him to teach him what he didn't know. After several days he let the person go emaciated and starving. He would just slow Moak down but the barrel he had would be of use so Moak take it. Now he finds himself with these strange dry skins, but they seem to know about the tribe that killed my people. So for now I tolerate the dry skins because they can and WILL help Moak avenge his people. And if they serve Moak well he keep them as loyal pet.

Potential nucleus of a suggestion of an idea: An interrogation of a PC? Perhaps casting Zone of Truth such that respondents can go through twice; once as if they fail the save and once where they are able to lie?

Clover the Halfling Bard: 'Now many heroes of the past had destinies it's said. Born beneath a prophecy or curse upon their head. At first did you believe that you were meant for greater stuff? Some auspicious dream or even wish would be enough?' Kaelin the Human Rogue: There once was a lad named Kaelin, whose destiny was up for unveilin'. He searched for some sign, but alas, not a line, so he decided to keep on retailin'. -.-.- Clover the Halfling Bard: 'When you went, how did you feel? Joy, or some malaise? Did you hightail it out of there? Reflect with wistful gaze?' Kaelin the Human Rogue: 'I set out on my own with a grin, a world of adventure to win. I left without sadness, with eyes full of gladness, ready to commit my first sin.' Absolutely loved this scenario, really sparked my creativity.
