Ah, the joys of wildlife photography in the winter--gloomy weather and mucky conditions. I was happy to see that the swans were somewhat cooperative, which let you get some good shots with the macro lens, which is usually too short for bird photography. During the warm months, my macro lens is on my camera most of the time. I use a Tamron 180mm macro lens, which gives me a bit more reach than your 105mm, but it does not have any image stabilization, so I have to pay a lot of attention to my shooting technique. During the winter I mostly use my Tamron 150-600mm. Like your Sigma zoom, it does best when there is a lot of light, but I do appreciate the extra range that it gives me for birds. I might try an outing soon with my macro lens to see what I can get. :)

Too true, will be using the Sigma 150-600 next time! But still good fun :)
