Thanks, the information is helpful, I don't see much European basketball here in Australia so I am still learning about Euroleague, so will Riga in Latvia ever have a team in the Euroleague? Also if you can do more videos for beginners to the Euroleague that would be great, just to explain the rivalries, famous coaches & teams, players etc

Let me now reply to this video as a fan. I love your channel for 3 main reasons: 1. I feel you created a very healthy fan base community. Where fans from all over Europe (and not) can access and comment about their teams. 2. There was a gap that you guys successfully figured out and manage to fill. Even during the social media era, there were only official media channels -mainly handled by big TV operators - that won’t ever give space to the fans to express their opinions about their teams and the game we all love. You managed to give a platform for us fans to express ourselves and enjoy the game all together. 3. Young people with fresh ideas. I feel like i am watching my friends speaking about basketball. Only that you guys are well prepared and have actually knowledge on the subject. Unlikely than my friends, where we usually fight about Olympiakos-PAO 😅 4 (bonus reason): all the above plus the content you share is not pay-to-view, but instead you created a user friendly monetisation model for the “hardcore” fans only, and for those who wants more. All other people can still follow you for free. Now what I don’t like are some of the clickbait takes and articles but I guess you also need that in order to generate some traffic 😊 Keep the good work! Greetings from an Oly fan 🙌🏽

I have to agree on the gap. EuroHoops long has had brilliant written content but with limited socials and marketing in Europe we were screaming out or at least I was for this type of platform and BN have filled in perfectly. Equally the community it feels healthy not just usual Europen Ball comments of Oly v Pana, Partizan v Crvena just insulting each other the content is of a high enough level you can have contrastive conversations. As a neutral a Brit living in Netherlands and now Hungary where the EL has 0 coverage in all 3 BN feels like almost the global provider for European Ball in written and visual content and strikes a perfect balance of bringing in new fans, accommodating to current fans and appealing to Basketball Nerds/neutrasl like myself. They really have changed the game and really landscape of European Ball when you have Americans in the media referencing the channel

@@alastairwood7277 props to you my friend for being a Brit and loving basketball. You’re the first one I “met” 😃 As Greek myself I used to follow Eurohoops (is greek-owned) but as you correctly said, they were lacking on some things. Personally, I always found it anonymous, and even though the content was good, was not very elaborated. Given the passion and the drive of the guys here in BN, I strongly believe they will reach a wider audience in the near future, and maybe expand on other sports as well, cause as we know (unfortunately) European basketball doesn’t bring you money. So they may have to review their strategy if they want to make this thing sustainable enough.

The Belgian , Dutch , Norwegian and Slovak basketball championships have either been continously in utter decline or disappeared from basketball after the 90s , the British just recently reappeared , the Polish only have 2 good teams eligible for Europe in Eurocup ( Arka Gdynia aka Asseco Prokom and Slask Wroclaw ) , the Bosnians only appear in international tournaments outside their country - same for the Kazakhs , Georgians , Moldovans , Romanians , Swedish , Danes , Slovenians , Czechs , Estonians and Latvians . One country who I would really like to be back in the Euroleague is Croatia . It just doesn't feel right with Cibona away from the competition . Generally if a country in Europe wasn't hit by the basketball boom of the 80's ( ie Greece , Spain , Italy , Germany , France etc ) or formerly being part of the former Yugoslavia ( Serbia , Croatia , Montenegro , Bosnia , Slovenia , FYROM ) or being a country pouring great amounts of money towards basketball from the 90s onwards ( ie Türkiye ) or have a basketball history of at least 60 years ( ie Russia , both as the Soviet Union and independently) , it's highly probable it doesn't have much of a relationship with basketball as a sport . The Swiss I don't know if they EVEN HAVE a basketball league . Also , let us not forget about countries like Luxembourg and Liechtenstein . I don't believe such countries have the credentials or population to create competitive basketball teams or championships . Monaco is excluded from this category since it's victories count as French and not independent . For further information , anybody interested about the history of basketball in Europe can also look up the history of our continental competition , the Eurobasket . For example , my country Greece won it's first medal in Eurobasket not in 1987 but in 1949 ( bronze ) .

Like the Basketball Bundesliga, Liga ACB, ABA League, Greek Basket League, or the Lega Basket A in Italy. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely enjoy the team play and atmosphere, but it would be nice if someone talks about the various leagues. Especially in English, if not, in subtitles will be okay with me as well.

I‘ve been watching EL (and European Basketball) for about half a year now and for the most part i really enjoy it. The games are always intense and the atmosphere is pretty crazy. It has probably become my second most favorite sport to watch (coming from a Handballplayer/-fan which is obv my favorite sport to watch). I enjoy it more than the NBA bc all games are taken seriously and it always feels intense. Also the F4 format is my favorite thing in sports bc it makes for the most intense high stakes games imo. But there are a few things i‘m not enjoying too much: 1. is definitely the semi closed League system the EL has going on. I think participation in the best European league should be granted by your success in your domestic league and not by the size of your wallet. Bc with the current system if you have a surprise domestic champion most of their roster will just be bought up by the big European teams and the team becomes irrelevant again. Open the league and maybe give first time Participants some financial boost so they can hold their Star players. 2. probably one of the most annoying things are definitely the toxic fans on social media just hating everything. You can still be passionate about your club without hating every other club and insulting everyone disagreeing with you
@tema_cph
11 ай бұрын
Unfortunately semi closing the league was best decision they did. Problem with open league was that many teams would overspend, win local championship, come into league broke and underperform, next year there would 80% new teams. This hurt teams because they could not negotiate long sponsorship contracts. The organizations are growing, league is more competitive than ever. You still can qualify and compete for Eurocup title, which is second best euro competition. I am also not against the fact they opened doors to some french and German teams, proven stable budget teams with big untapped market and that is working out very well strategically. Hopefully one day UK can also do it. But at this point having open league no thanks, I have seen too many clubs go off the map after some rich billionaire decides to play basketball fantasy for a year or two.

You guys know what to release based off of fans questions!! 👍👍👍 Only thing that you didn't include that might've helped even more is that the people from the US may not understand that the teams are from different countries and that the league is separate from their countrys actual national league so the teams are in 2 leagues. Best teams in Euope? By no means... it is a closed circus where only the same teams play again and again, with some teams with connections (like tony parker's team) get also accepted etc. Two examples AEK in 2018 in 6 games against Euroleague teams won 3 (50%) for the Greek Cup and Championship. During that season, AEK won the BCL and Greek Cup, yet AEK was not in the Euroleague. Same in 2020, when AEK won the Greek Cup again, was a finalizt in the 2020 BCL and had 50% record against euroleague teams... Teams from the BCL like Kinder, Monaco etc have proven that there are good teams outside of the Euroleague. Therefore the euroleague should at least allow the 6 spots to be allocated through play-ins...

There are few other international leagues where team becoming a champion receives wildcard to play in Euroleague. 1. Adriatic Basketball League A.K.A ABA League. In this league playing Serbian, Croatian, Macedonian, Montenegro and Bosnian teams. 2. EuroCup. International league controlling by Euroleague. Champion of this championship receives a wildcard. But sometimes a team who didn't won championship and but reached semi-finals or Final they have a chance to get wildcard too. But it depends of their finances. Good example russian team Saint Petersburg "Zenit" in 2018/2019 season reached semi-finals in EuroCup, but received wildcard to Euroleague because of big budget (16-18 Million Eur) and having coach with good CV of results.
