Power angle Curve is a Curve between Electrical Power Output vs Load Angle delta. Where Load Angle is an Angle between Induced EMF E vs Terminal Voltage V.
Derivation of Output Power vs Load Angle is given. Output Electrical Power = 3EVsin(delta)/xS. Based on this Power Angle Curve is drawn. When Load Angle is between 180 and 360 degree, Power is Negative i.e. it has become Synchronous Motor.
Power is Maximum when Load Angle is 90 degree and is equal to 3EV/xS.
Stability means that Generator returns back to Steady State after Disturbance When Load Angle is between 0 and 90 degree, the Region is Stable. When Load Angle is between 90 and 180 degree, it is unstable.
Steady State Stability Limit is the Maximum Flow of Power without causing the Loss of Stabilty. Since the Generator becomes unstable after Load Angle becomes more than 90 degree, Load Angle 90 Degree is Steady State Stability Limit.
Stability Margin is the difference between Maximum Power and Steady State Power.
It is recommended that Load Angle should not exceed 20 to 30 degree to take care of Transients.
