Power Flow | Bus Categorization | Engineering Simple
Steady state power flow analysis is an important way of ensuring the power system will be reliable and secure as circumstances change. It is important to differentiate the different buses when dealing with power flow analysis. Buses can be categorized as either swing/slack, PQ (load), or PV (voltage controlled) buses. There are four variables that characterize each bus: voltage, angle, active power, and reactive power. Two of these variables are known and two are unknown for each bus. The unknown variables are calculated from the power flow simulation.
