Yeah, this works. Thanks for your e320 vids. Tips: Use the 3/8 tubing from Home depot and the 3/8 barb. Use a small styrofoam cup(break the top off if needed) to catch the fluid from the res. I did this while really spilling almost nothing - I had never had an idea of how to accomplish this task before watching the video. Really thankful for your video - well done. The OM648 powertrain is probably the best I have ever owned.....the car/body is probably one of the worst.

Why do you think the w211 is one of the worst?
@rednekarson
2 жыл бұрын
@@gabem9937 Have had W124 and W126, have had 2 W211's. I think MB was still learning how to make cheap cars(well) with the W211. Just my experience, little things like falling headliners, plastic parts that break, sun visors(oh man, the crap sun visors). But, they don't really seem to be built that well for a cheap car either, in comparison to say, Toyota. Just an opinion, hopefully informed. But, as I said, I think the powertrain on the E320 CDI, is the best diesel I have owned.
@gabem9937

@@rednekarson Indeed the sun visors are a pain. I drive a Model 3 occasionally for work and the build quality is unbelievably poor.. when I get back into my w211 it feels like the most solid car in the world. Not as solid as a w123 or 6th gen Camry, but at least a lot better than many new cars out there. +1 for the cdi powertrain.

@Car D, Thank you for your vid, I am going you use this method as soon as my fluid arrives. Why didn’t didn’t you place the waste container on the floor instead of on top of the engine? I’m thinking less mess, the hose would empty into the waste container as soon as it was disconnected or is siphoning a problem?

Great video. If you end up changing your brake fluid could you film that? I am planning on doing mine without Star using a pressure bleeder once I get some time.
@card.ologist4570

So, I just did this but went to the dealer because to do it correctly, you need to have Star Diagnostics. If you power bleed, you can clear the brake fluid reservoir and the lines, but will not clear the internals of the SBC pump -- which is the most expensive and important component of the braking system. I took advantage of the covid 19 situation and used a 25% off dealer service coupon when they had no business and only spent $270. Not bad.

Can you flush out most of the old fluid first by turning left-right before you add the new stuff in?
@stevenk7838
2 жыл бұрын
You will fill the system with air draining the system. Then you need to add clean. Then let the car sit overnight with clean fluid because you may have foam from mixing air with fluid. Then you will need to slowly turn the wheel to flush the system again just to get the air out.

GREAT JOB!!!! IS THE GAS W211 POWER STEERING FLUID PUMP RESSOVOIR DIFFERENT FROM THE DIESEL?
@card.ologist4570
4 жыл бұрын
Yes, it is. I looked into this. I wanted to replace the reservoir because it contains the filter -- but it was not available for sale -- and the ones that were had a different orientation of the outlet pipes. This must mean that the power steering pump is different for the diesel.

Hi! Your car sounds just like mine. I notice you have the same 165hz "groan" that mine does. I'm wondering if that's normal or if perhaps there is a pulley or tensioner going bad? Hopefully it's normal :)
@jadesluv
3 жыл бұрын
You could always remove the belt and check the pulleys for excessive play, my tensioner went at 135,000 also at the same time a found a bad idler so I replaced both, but with the engine running you can look down at the belt and see if the belt is tracking straight and not wavering.

@@liamdavitt1297 No, unfortunately I never did and since the weather has turned colder, I don't hear it as much. So I'm wondering if perhaps it's the aux fan bearing or maybe a pulley/tensioner is behaving differently with the temperature change. I do still hear it from time to time tho. Is yours very noticeable as well? To me, it's not quiet or subtle whatsoever. I just wish I could figure out what it is.
