Update with these pumps: make sure orange/red bearing is seated all the way down, if not when assembling pump all back together and tighten back bolts, pump will be hard to rotate and will not operate fully functional and will appear seized. This had me stumped!

Great video. Some suggestions: Clean the pump first up while still on the car, it makes it easier, and you don't have to worry about water getting into exposed hose ends!.. Also, @2:50 you can see the problem trying to loosen the nut on the pulley. This is easier to loosen while it is still on the car and the engine pulley belt is still holding it down, put the car in gear, and then use a socket wrench and a hammer to tap on the nut, it should loosen easily, like ours did! :)

Ok so this may be like just my own dumbassery or not paying attention but, make sure you put the outer collar, where the stripper seal goes, in the correct orientation. At some point I flipped it upside down and that blocks the pump from sending fluid out. Luckily I didn't destroy my pump with this mistake but yeah. Make sure that plus with just the spring under it is in fact in the hole on that collar.

It's not my car make, but I do have to say its really good hands on, the strategy is really good, if this is your first time make sure that you take pictures of removal and you will have a full understanding on installment of your own parts. if this is as accurate step by step, then pictures help, if your a person that can't afford to mess up. Hey everybody, I figured out how to remove the ball bearing. you use 2 sockets and a hand clamp. The bearing can only be removed one way and when you press it back on it has a lip/ edge so you do not want to force in on past that point. Make a note of which side the red bubber dust seal is facing on the shaft, the other side is a metal dust shield, do not reverse that orientation. Notice I put pressure on the inner metal wall of the bearing when installing, do not put pressure to the outer metal wall or you can destroy the new bearing. Here are pictures of which sockets to use for 2001 Accord V6/ 2002 Odyssey etc: s3.photobucket.com/user/eksine/library/Honda%20Power%20Steering%20Pump%20Bearing%20Removal

How are the fluid levels and colors? While the exterior seals may still be good and you might not have leaks, I could see maybe the seals on the rotating vanes maybe going bad and making the pump less efficient. Maybe the outer ring @ min 5:14 is not lineup correctly to the 19mm cap/spring, and holes on the housing. Same thing happened to me, just want to share.

Did this last awhile compared to buying new?

Unfortunately I only had the car for another year and a half before it was totalled. But it worked great without any leaks for that long at least. I have no reason to believe that the rebuilt would last as long as a new one.

Great Video. I followed the steps but doesn't seem to work. Steering is Stiff. I tried to flush the Fluid by removing the return hose from the reservoir and nothing comes out. Any idea what could be going on? The steering is VERY Stiff at any speed.

Are you referring to turning the steering wheel right to left until bubbles are out? If so, I tried that and nothing happens. No bubbles in the fluid.

I just meant to make sure you have fluid in the pump before running it because it won't draw the fluid in if its full of air

15:34 you have riuned the machined surface by putting in on the vice and hitting the pump with hammer. You sould have put some wood under the pump...
