thank you so much for these videos. I've been a keeper for about 10 years now and with my second season in the first adult team of my club I have the best chances of becoming the No. 1 goalkeeper for my club. For the past few weeks since last season ended I started to workout in my gym and focus on everything I may need to perform better in goal and take the number 1 spot instead of the number 2 in goal. With these videos I now know much better which exercises to do and I will do your two workout routines as often as possible until preseason begins. Wish me luck, it would be a dream coming true for me :D

That's great!! I'm really glad that the videos have helped you, and hopefully you can kick on and make that number one spot yours! I'm sure you'll do it, good luck, and let me know how it goes!

@@ConorOKeefe Hey Conor. It has been 2 months now and I think I'll give you a little update on what happened to me over the last 2 months. I've played every single possible minute I could during the whole pre season. Due to my performance my team and I managed to win the city championship. Over the course of 4 games I only conceded 2 goals and managed to get 2 clean sheets. In the final (which went to penalties) I saved two pens. In the cup we played a team from the 5th german division. We clearly lost but I was awarded the player of the match saving around 15 shots. The newspapers quickly started reporting on me and my path. Last friday was the beginning of the new season with a derby against our biggest rivals. Although it ended 0:0 I played one of my best games so far and again had around 10 saves with incredible reactions at times. Almost the whole article on the newspapers was about me and my performance. It has went so far that people started recognizing me on the street as media in my town reports on me every week on their frontpage. I know it all sounds a bit unreal but that's whats going on my in life right now :D Thank you for your workout routine I pulled through 1 month of preseason doing your exercises too and I think it payed off. Kind regards Robyn

Might be a silly question lol but is there a difference in doing mountain climbers with those slider things as apposed to doing them the regular way? In case I don’t have the means of doing the slippery way lol 😅

Do you have any tips for keepers that are coming back from injuries. I’m attempting a come back from a knee injury and just wondered what I can do to strengthen it up and get the mindset right again as it’s psychological at the moment that I’m gonna do the injury again so I can’t fully commit myself in games and training

I’ve only just really come across your videos, so I’m not too sure of everything you’ve covered. For me, I think pre game is important. Having a different insight into how you recommend to warm up before a match. Obviously it varies for the individual but some kind of base routine would be good. Possibly even working with a variety of coaches if you have access to them. Learning different philosophies along the way.

What would be your overall workout distribution throughout the week, between the power and strength sessions for instance? Since both activate the same muscles, I’m wondering how you manage muscles recovery? Thanks!
@ConorOKeefe
5 жыл бұрын
I aim for 2/3 gym workouts per week, alongside training and matches. I'll programme it each week so that I have enough time to recover before games, so normally gym sessions are earlier in the week. And the focus of the sessions will change depending on how my body is feeling/what training has been like!

Hey Connor! I just wondered if this and the other gym video could be the two primary goalkeeper gym sessions i have in a week? And then if i have some spare time i can go and do some upper body workouts with my gym buddies? + i have 3-4 football trainings and one or two matches per week.
@ConorOKeefe
3 жыл бұрын
Yes you could use those too! You won’t need much extra gym work on top of that, as they cover pretty much everything. You don’t want to do too much, being sharp for your team sessions & games are the most important thing!

I do a strength session in the gym twice a week, and a recovery session in the gym once a week, alongside my normal training!
