With tears in my eyes I type this…as a Gen X’er I consider DMB the greatest band of my generation. My heart erupts with joy when the younger generations are introduced to Dave’s music. Your reaction was priceless! Blessings be upon you thank you for sharing. 🙏🏻

Only saw DMB live twice but the first time was a month before LeRoi passed away, which I’m so grateful I got to witness the original members play together. I had never listened to DMB before that concert but went with a friend and they instantly became one of my favorite bands.

When watching reactions to certain songs/performances especially this one, it becomes easy to see the person's heart which says so much about them as a whole. You definitely have a kind spirit, compassion for others, and true love/fear of "our" father. God bless.

You might also have a powerful and emotional reaction to hearing the same duo perform "The Maker". It's not an original song, but played with the same level of emotion. In fact, the whole album from Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds Live at Radio City has a very emotional feel to it. Amazing performers together. Dave is equally amazing when performing with the full band, especially their original group when saxophonist LeRoi Moore was still alive.

Great reactions, Dave writes all of his songs. You were spot on with the interpretation of the lyrics. A lot of his songs deal with death as he was exposed to it at a young age, losing his father as a child and his sister very early in his career.

@@SarahDengler because it was THAT good. A Dave & Tim show is MUCH deferent than a Dave Matthews Band show.. Radio City is not very big.. in comparison to the stadiums & arenas the band play.. MUCH more intimate.. it was almost like just hanging out w some friends who happen to be Dave & Tim..

If my memory serves I think Dave’s sister was murdered by her husband so the reference to his sister in this song and his anguish may be about his devastation after her murder. Dave and his younger sister Jane adopted his late sister’s surviving daughter and son. The song Dreaming Tree was inspired by their love for the book The Giving Tree. I highly recommend you listen to it as well as Grey Street.

I've watched so many of these react videos to this performance. My suggestion to people if they ever want to give DMB a try (since there's so much mainstream dislike for him for no reason), DMB-Listener Supported then Dave and Tim @ Radio City. Once you work through those 2 albums, I just don't think there's anyway you can walk away not in love with what they're doing on stage.

He's asking for salvation in Christ. Salvation from the trappings of this fallen and doomed world. Salvation from indwelling sin. Deeply Theological and spiritual.

@@JohnDavis-mu9je Yes, exactly how I have always interpreted this song. Also I think the guy is an alcoholic, possibly to the point of being near death...and he is desperate for his life, fearing death and regretting his life choices. Idk...that's how I take it anyway

the bartender is supposed be god, and he is confessing is fears and sins and begging for help. For example the line "this wine that is drinking me" is referring to alcoholism. This whole concert is worth watching and they have it on the Dave Matthews channel here.
