I bought the Minus Forum mini PC and in the Amazon description it said you could make it auto power up after power failure. And that was wrong because they changed the design and it was removed in the Bios in the newer versions. For me, that was a very important for me as I was using the PC as a control device for controlling my amateur radio station (AI7R).
So, if the power failed, I needed it to come back on. So in this video I'll show how I added a 1/8" jack and where I wired it to the board to allow physically turning it back on from remote.
I mention a service (free) by mydevices.com and their app called Cayenne. You can download an image or code for the Raspbetter Pi or the Arduino and add whatever relays or sensor devices you'd like and you can see the values or key the relays from the web or your phone very easily.
Another feature of the software are triggers. You want the on/off switch for the power of the PC to be momentary. The computer never really is off and senses you tapping the button. If it's off it powers it on. If it's on it powers off. So, you can either manually engage the relay through Cayenne and then tap it again to turn it off (simulating the finger tap) or you can create a trigger that looks at the relay and if it's on, turn it off. That way, you can push the icon to turn on the PC and within about 15 seconds the trigger will see the relay is on and turn it off. Kinda' cool how you can do that.
This is more about just wiring the PC for remote power. There will be more videos showing the PC in combination of other things to control my radio station.
