The reason Holley tells you to run it straight to the battery is to help prevent interference from the ignition system and alternator that produce electrical pulses. The Holley sniper system seems to be especially problematic with interference. It also is sometime done for memory reasons.

you ground everything to the frame so that it acts as a sort of a negative bus. there should be infinite continuity between your engine block, your negative battery terminal, your trans, your frame, etc., so that they're all working together as your ground. pretty much any heavy automotive component that you can link in with a short thick wire will improve the system's ability to absorb electrical noise or "kickback", and durability. remember that you're trying to mimic the electrical potential of the entire planet here (that's why it's called a ground, or earth, even though its purpose is more like that of a neutral wire in residential wiring). the more mass, the better. especially these days with how finicky electrodigitals can be. also, the lugs on your ground connections should be grounding through the washer/bolt as well as directly to the frame, so stripping paint off for a good ground isn't totally necessary. that said, I do agree that it's best. you can then paint over the whole thing if you're worried about the look. it does help with corrosion, too, but I prefer to brush it with dielectric grease.

I’ve heard the best place to ground is directly on the engine block curious on your thoughts🤷♂️ I was also wondering about running fuses instead of fuseable link wire? Very clean wiring btw👌

I show all of my grounds in the video:) normally I’d just run the grounds off the battery itself but the box makes that difficult
@shelbyhoneysuckle1080

The best place to ground is directly to the battery, you can even create a ground distribution using a distribution box and only have a single large gauge ground connected to the battery and then run all of your grounds to the distribution. Makes it very clean and keeps everything off your battery.

Put your kill switch between the battery ground cable and the frame if you ever change the setup. That will kill everything because the current can't make it back to the battery. That's how a traditional battery disconnect is wired which to all intents and purposes is the same thing as a kill switch.

dont forget to power alarm to a separate cut off or direct to battery, so you can decide on if its on with rest of the car power cut. i did this to my uncles cars that go to car shows. so we can walk around but know if someone opens the doors.

Oh yeah you want your ECU straight wired from the battery because that gives it the most stable voltage possible. Your wiring is beautiful, congrats on the Holley sponsorship!

Some of my grounds are on my core support and fender aprons so I don’t want to grind down paint under it to avoid rust and to just keep a clean look. Can I just run a tap through the threads and the bolt will carry ground?

I would move the grounds else where. The bolt can carry ground through, but there will be more resistance, which you do not want.

The only issue that I see is that if you kill the kill switch (From On to Off) and the car is still running would it kill the motor running? I assume that Holley has some type of signal wire that tells the ECU to stop running the motor when the kill switch is thrown? Good job on the explanation! Love the detail of the wiring for sure!

How do you kill power to your ecu. I may not have caught it. I assume it isn’t hot non stop
@hommie789
2 жыл бұрын
If she is going straight to the negative and positive of the battery then it is hot all the time. I was wondering the same thing, I know I have a voltage regulator in line with the ECM as I run a 16.6V electrical system so feeding that to the ecm would make it unhappy, so I run a constant voltage transformer/regulator that is connected to my kill switch which kills the ecm if a rollover or the kill switch is activated.
