I’ve raced four speeds since the 70 s. When you. Have full throttle in first pull back hard it won’t come out of gear Then just tap the clutch it will be in second gear in a instant. Same with the other gears push hard towards them tap the clutch. Practice at low RPM until you sound like an auto trans. I’ve been called mr four speed since high school. Now you know the trick.

Oh watching this made me smile and cry at the same time. I had to watch this.. When I was little my Dad and Mom had a 71 Pontiac LeMans and it was gold with a vinyl green top. Green bench seat in front and back and Hurst 4 speed on the floor. Loved that car. I wanted to see if they sounded similar and yes they sounded almost identical. Ours was a 350 2 barrel but still had that transmission sound like this one and the turn signal sound all brought back good memories. That car sounds amazing ours did too love that sound. Them he power shifted just like my Dad used too it was like watching my Dad here amazing. My Dad never missed a gear either. When I was 10 or so I learned how to drive it to from watching my Dad and Mom driving it all those years. I got to drive it a few times when I got my license and could power shift also. Makes them shift really nice...they had like a 3.08 low gear...with 3.50 gears in the rear end it's about the same as a muncie with a 2.20 first gear and 4.30 in the rear end...more gears is always better

Nice machine. Sounds strong. Nice upshifts too. Good job, in that respect. But. ... Had to frown each time you approached a stop sign or intersection. No downshifts, at all. And, I actually winced as you "muscled" the shifter into 1st gear at one point. Shows that you either don't understand what purpose the synchronizers in your transmission serve, or you lack the skills to use them more effectively. Try tapping the throttle slightly, as you move the shifter into first gear. By doing so, you spin the primary (input) shaft faster, and it more closely matches the secondary (output) shaft, which is rotating with the forward movement of the vehicle. You'll find that with a little practice, the shifter will just slide into first gear (and any other gear you want to downshift into) without the need to force it into gear. This makes your transmission last longer, due to reduced wear. It also extends the life of your brake pads and shoes. Truckers use a similar method, known as "double clutching" for every downshift, for a very good reason. ... they don't have the luxury of synchronizers. Sadly, in time, if you choose not to heed this well-intentioned advice. ... you won't have any synchronizers either. 😉
