Man I love having my sons work with me. Passing all my knowledge down. Spending time together when I can. WORK WORK AND WORK. In October every year since 2016 I’ve been taking my son on hunting trips 2 first of February we have so much fun. And now I find myself doing the same things with my grandsons when their dad’s have to go back to work.🦃🐇🐿🦌🐟🇺🇸 Life is good

Ive seen an ISX-600 Cummins do 2 million km's, fantastic condition top to bottom, all on 10W-40 synthetic oil, 20,000km oil changes. If you want an engine to last, synthetic oil does the job. Holy moo cow, keeping an engine stable while working the crane, thats a real handful Warren.

Thank You Warren. Yep "grease in cheaper than iron". I just find it ludicrous that 15mins maintenance a month can save 1000's per year in repairs. I drive a Transit. We had -10C of first. Van didn't drive well. Took it in, as we are not aloud to touch certain items. The fuel filter housing, fuel filter, water bleed tap, and water sensors were all frozen off, and burst. Just because of water not been bled off. All new fitted - £1k+ labour and tax. Excellent vid Warren Thank You. 😎

I can't believe I missed this video. Yup that set of brakes is a clear sign of a "hand valve hero", seen a few of them in the rhubarb over the years. The idea is to use the valve on sharper curves to pull the unit through the curve faster, usually doesn't end well given weather conditions. Then you get you pit to pin lease operators who prefer to burn out the brakes on the trailer in stead of wearing their own brakes out on the tractor. Comes down to doing a "what", a pretrip, what's a pretrip? The difference between a professional driver and just a lucky one is this, the "professional driver" is still driving with great pay and benefits for thousands of miles of safe economical driving history. The lucky one is the one who hasn't killed anyone yet and is jumping from company to company making crap pay at an entry level position. Had the RCMP take a truck off the road because it failed a roadside inspection, we drained 9 gallons of water and sludge out of the wet tank and 3 gallons of crap out of the dry tank. The guy driving this thing was boasting about being a "professional driver" as he stood there with a hand full of violation notices. Thanks for the video Warren, Cheers!

90w, about 2 or 3 cups. Supposed to run a little less than half full, with a window you can see it just walking by so no real excuse not to notice it's getting low. And these would be called brake shoes, don't know the price right off hand but all of them is going to be some bill. Warren is it just preference or are there a reason you do not use a reman power stroke engine like "Jasper Engines" ? Back in my day it seemed to cost more doing the work myself. Mostly due to machine shop cost and DOWN TIME waiting on are machine shops. Just curious if you have ever considered the option :)

I put in a reman factory john deere engine 2 years ago and it lasted 200 hours and threw a rod through the block . Before that I bought a reman 7.3 powerstroke from Ford that ended up being bored 30 over and they stuck 10 over pistons in it . And both times they gave me another engine but I ate all the time . I am done with remans .
@ronhart4166

I hear ya. I used Jasper engines and transmissions for I would say at least 15yrs from 90s to 2010ish and always had great luck with them. The few engines I did have go sour on me they paid a 100% of the labor cost and replaced the engine also. You may want to check them out. I even bought some of there rear ends that had spindle damage and smoked axles. Light duty auto of corse. If I remember correctly power stroke and Duramax is still considered light duty .They even sale "engine kits" that comes with oil, oilfilter, new water pump and hoses. May save you a little time too.I know it was quick and good money. Especially with all the HD work you do.Back then we were doing at least two or more motor swaps a week it seemed. if not more with the Ford 4.6 and the Dodge 5.9s I have been out of the industry for awhile do to Arthritis "RA" . Just a thought for you. It could be great money and something your son could do. Not to mention there motor are primed and checked before they leave for OIL :) You do great work !! Just running it by you :)

Ron Hart I’ve been in the automotive repair industry for 30 yrs and I cannot think of one reman company that I’d recommend. Jasper, ATK suck. Not only do their QC suck but they expect the installer to do warranty repairs for ridiculously low rates when their junk fails. We either find low mileage salvage yard engines or we build them ourselves. Most applications are so common in the automotive industry that low mileage salvage units are the best option for the customers. You can find popular engines like GM LS , Toyota and Honda engines for under a grand easily.

Do you give the owners hell verbally for not maintaining their stuff or do you do it when you bill them? If I caught as much crap as you do I think I would have to make it worth my while when I presented the bill. And to think the owner was worried about an air leak and a few cracks. Never mind the whole rear of the trailer was about to come apart. Please don't get me wrong when I say I love to hear you raise hell cause I know it is for good reason and I agree people just don't take care of the simple things like GREASE the darn thing. One question..... Do you give them the parts list first or just fix everything you find and give them the bill afterward? Think this one is gonna be a biggun!

Drivers can be hell on equipment. There's an "it's not mine...." mentality that is hard to counter. I drove OTR for a while during a break in my active duty time. Treated equipment like it was my personally owned stuff. Didn't make me better than anyone but I had less breakdowns. Here's the real irony. These lazy, disrespectful (of other's equipment) folks are usually the first to bitch about wages, etc. News flash..... Maybe, just maybe, if you took better care of the equipment that has been placed in your care, the boss would be able to be a little more generous because he's not constantly getting bent over by unnecessary repair costs. Just a thought. Rant over.

John Baugh Many companies have sorry ass drivers because that’s what they’ve paid for. I’ve seen it firsthand when the original owner of a company that built it through blood,sweat, and tears moves off the scene. Usually his spoiled rotten offspring take over and their priority is to suck as much profit from the company as they can. The way long term employees are treated is usually the first thing they change. I’ve seen them run off the great drivers in order to replace them with low budget jerk offs. There’s not much employee loyalty anymore because many employers don’t want the best . They want the cheapest.

hey bud i have a 1996 ps wont turn on, i changed icp oil pressure sending unit, cps, ipr, glow plug relay and put a new fuel pump on it, oil is at correct level and only mod i done is the bb mod. it cranks over just fine i got it to turn on and then it died in the middle of the road too. any ideas of what it could be? i dont have any tools to troubleshoot it. i was thinking the idm but it seems to me that its not getting fuel since theres no smoke out the tailpipe. i checked the fuel tank pickup and its clear of obstructions as well.
@westerntruckandtractorrepa1353
6 жыл бұрын
When you are cranking , does the oil pressure gauge register pressure soon while cranking ? If not the low pressure pump behind the crank dampner could be bad or hpop , or a bad injector oring . The idm usually will just drop one bank of cylinders and it will start but just run like shit . To check the low pressure pump pull the plug out of the top of the hpop reservoir and you should see oil about an inch from the top and you can crank on it with the plug out and you should get plenty of oil coming out.
