I purchased one of these for $50 brand new about 18 months ago from Jaycar, I thought they were discontinued until today, as it was on the clearance shelf and thought it would be good for testing car stereo equipment and the cars electrical system without engine running etc connected to a battery at that price. Still haven't used it 😅 If it was variable I could use it for other things, which is how I found your video on that search to modify, I have now followed you and will open it up to have a look to see if it is the same with the soldering etc.

Thanks for following the channel Jason much appreciated, $50 for this power supply despite the build quality is a bargain. I have made a few mods to the power supply, Volt and Amp meters, Crowbar circuit for over voltage protection and soldered in the transformer. It will also be recapped. Anyway I will make eventually make a video about the mods. Cheers! Jordan

Not soldered wires! Unbelieveable for this price. It is better to modify a 750W HP or Dell server powersupply. They give you 13,8V and 50 to 100A depending on the model. I bought mine for 12€.

I have thought about repurposing some of my old power supplies, pretty sure my old Dell servers will probably be under 750w as they are almost 20yr old by now LOL, another thing to have a look at, I hoard to much old tech.

There is a video on my channel for a crow bar circuit. Other than that for the time being I've stopped filming.
