I understand that the switch doesn't bypass the output gain... so could we use the blend knob for that? Or why was it clipping, before you figured it out? Is the output gain a kind of makup gain in this unit? Sorry for my beginners questions :) Thanks for unboxing and discussing. I also waited for this for years because I want it to be my first hardware comp :D Peace

We were using the blend knob to check our levels before and after compression. We tried just using the bypass switch and it got louder because the compression turned off, but the output gain didn't. Compression will naturally make the source quieter, so when turned off it would get louder. Let me know if that doesn't make sense and I can explain further! -David

@@Pixelproaudio so how can you bring the post comp signal to the same volume again? Switching to comp in and then turn up the output gain? and when switching back to comp out, it will be even louder?! so no direkt comparisn possible? how come the reviews say, that this solution need some getting used to and comes in very intelligent soon after?! thanks a lot =)

Does this require an audio interface? Can I use it in FL Studio?
@Pixelproaudio

If you are using it with FL studio, you will need to send signal from and back into an audio interface. -David

You can Route it out from the out of the interface and then back in the inputs going back to Interface back into FL studio or any other DAW I use reasons

Are you getting any color out of this box? I'm not hearing any, but maybe my ears are toast. :) Trying to figure out whether I should pull the trigger on this or another clone.

It was super clean actually. The plugins I use typically choke the highs a bit, but this one was wide open. -David

Why'd they even put the VU meter on the unit? Thats kinda dissapointing.
@Pixelproaudio

Probably just for aesthetics. Maybe a digital meter would have been better and more accurate? The important thing though, is that is sounds good ;) -David

@@Pixelproaudio Actually Ive looked at a few vids since this and the needle seems to be jumping on others peoples unit. . I think maybe you need more input level. Im actually having the EXACT problem with my A Designs HM2. On My Interface and how the gain staging is set up is not giving me enough output to the compressor. I can get the comp to work but I have to turn the threshold all the way almost maxed and these units shouldnt be like that. I think I need to buy a couple inline line level gain boosters. That should solve the issue.

@@Pixelproaudio I actually push them up until right b4 they hit red in the mixer software. About +6db above unity gain. But its all gonna differ from interface to interface and the hardware you're using

@@tgbitw17 anyone followed up with Chameleon on this? Experiencing a similar issue, but feel like relative to other outboard gear I have I should be hitting it pretty damn hard (and it sounds like it). Wondering if they're prone to fault? L in, R in, L out, R out seem fine, really love the sound regardless!
