Präludium Larghetto, aus Op. 52 no.2 by Moritz Brosig (1815-1887)
A German cathedral organist who was of the Breslau School of church musicians which did much to bring the church away from the playful, theatrical, and 'profane' music of opera houses which demystified and trivialized the liturgy. Through this music re-grounded in the liturgy of the Word, including in his more than 30 choral preludes for Lutheran worship, Brosig did much to rebuild the reputation of cathedrals of Silesia and abroad to be a center of sacred music - holy (not secular), beautiful, and universal.
