Can I use gel food coloring, or the powdered food coloring (from The Sugar Art) on this?
@PattyDiFondiLearnCakeArt

Hi Victoria. Yes you can use gel colors in the practice buttercream. I have never tried the powdered coloring in it but I would take a small amount and give it a try. Hope that helps!

How long time sould be use it, and may I keep case it in refrigerator??
@PattyDiFondiLearnCakeArt

Normastid, the buttercream does not have to be refrigerated. As long as it is in a sealed container, you can leave it on your pantry shelf. It has a very long shelf life, just rewhip before each use to make it more fluffy and smooth.

Does this recipe work for everything? What changes need to be made for upright flowers and also for writing/leaves, etc.
@PattyDiFondiLearnCakeArt
Жыл бұрын
Hi D! It's a pretty sturdy recipe so you can use it to practice flowers also. For writing and piping, I would add just a little water, a tsp at a time to get the right consistency. Hope that helps!

@@PattyDiFondiLearnCakeArt It says it is epidose 3 and that this will be used to practice in the next episode. I am wanting to learn how to use the Wilton tips using this recipe. Do you have videos specifically for that? Thanks for your time.

No it does not. It's basically an American buttercream.

Can I leave out the corn syrup?
@PattyDiFondiLearnCakeArt
2 жыл бұрын
Hi Ogechukwu. The corn syrup helps prevent the buttercream from crusting so it's easier to reuse. You can substitute golden syrup, glucose syrup or food grade glycerin for the corn syrup. I know some countries do not have access to corn syrup. Hope that helps! Patty

@@PattyDiFondiLearnCakeArt hi Patty. Thank you for your recipe but do you think I could use a margarine that keeps it's firmness ? I have used a small amount with regular butter to keep the buttercream stable and it worked well. Also can store bought honey also work instead of corn syrup? It's difficult to find any of those ingredients you suggest where I am💔

@@liveandletlive7152 You're welcome! Yes you can use honey as a substitute for corn syrup. Margarine would most likely make the buttercream softer but you can try!

Is this only good for practice? Reason I ask is I can't stand the taste of butter, especially in the Swiss and Italian Meringue Buttercreams, so if this tastes OK I would love to use this as my piping buttercream from now on (I would add vanilla of course).

You can definitely use it for consumption. Honestly, when I'm making American buttercream I use Marsha Winbeckler's buttercream. It's an all shortening buttercream and tastes amazing. www.winbeckler.com/winbecklers-buttercream-icing-recipe-american-buttercream/
