I have to say that I really impressed by this video. As a ballerina, I`ve been exploring myself by trying other dance genres. It`s fun but hard. This class helps me understand a lot about textures and dynamics.

OMG! I'm starting to learn BTS's coreographies and I didn't know how to look for a tutorial or class about those powerful movements with relaxed movements right away likw "Stick, stick, milk" and I was just trying to replicate it myself watching mirorred dance practices, I used to dance Ballroom a bit for almost 2 years so I had a little bit of basics and fundations but now this is the tutorial I wanted to see!

Very helpful.But lm not sure I got the exact meaning the word of "Milk" here.Can you explain?
@brianwong9637
6 жыл бұрын
milking out is drawing out a movement path as long as possible while staying on time to the music. let's say you were doing a body roll. you can do a body roll for as many counts as you want. you can do it quickly in one count or "milk it" out for a whole 8 count. and in that "milking" you can change the path/direction also. milking is a way to change up your movement texture. let's say you were doing sharp, or hard hitting moves. like what brittnie did she held tension and then released. an example would be body rolling up to your chest, jerking your body forward and immediately stopping like you hit a wall, then using that recoil to move back, but this time your moving back slowly, "releasing" that tension you built up in the body roll to the chest hit. probably better ways to explain this but hope it helps

Thank you so much and Happy Chinese New Year.∩_∩Can I easily equals "milk"to "slow motion" that we use in popping dance?
@brianwong9637
6 жыл бұрын
penny chan thank you you too! And I would say it depends. Milking is the release of tension while in popping doing slow motion does require tension at times. Also milking doesn't require so much control. It's like a longer drawn out exhale

"Milking - When you extend movements throughout a portion of the piece or music. At the end of a move, instead of “putting a period” on it and ending it definitely by stopping the movement, think of it as a '…' - like you’re dragging out that move." 🙂 blog.steezy.co/most-important-dance-terms/

Do you need to tense hard the arms at each stick? After a few of sticks and throws, they start to hurt. Or is that just my body not in good condition?

And “stick and throw” is a really strange awkward movement I don’t even see that remotely working in dancing It just looks too weird. I see” stick and melt” being more useful and complementary but that’s because of liquid dancing moves and waving which can complement that Texture

You never will with that attitude. Dont think about what you cant do, think about what and how you can
Im watching this to improve my dancing of course BUT since i always learn dances on the internet i have gained a special ability and now i can mirror things almost automaticaly so i get confused when things are mirrored so this is tough for me cause its mirrored.....help
