Thank you Officer Robert for your quality help to us bikers out there, I'am 67 and self taught...years ago when I started riding at 16 there was no internet or people like you to help us, I had to re-learn what I thought was right but is not, I had to stop grabbing my front brakes at every stop ! Watching your video's has helped me immensely, Thanks again

Son of a gun. The KZitem algorithms are reading my thoughts. Thanks for sharing. I’m totally new rider. Dropped my BMW F800 GSA Twice. It happened when least expected at a stop. That put the anxiety into me. I won’t even mention what women can do to impact your thoughts. You hit the nail on the head. However any emotion can be unsafe. Like being super excited because you have that feeling to go have fun. Yesterday, I helped the maintenance guy at my condo building. He said that sweeping a broom is the most difficult exercise. He was right. So now I sweep as long as it takes to clear my thoughts. It involves inspecting my bike. My gear. Organizing. Because you need to program the muscle memory to know what to do in any situation. I can’t speak for other riders. If I’m not 100 % in the zone then I have to do something. The human brain is the most important component of your machine. Develop the love relationship. It will love you back 10 fold. Only speaking for myself, ride your own ride.
Watched for around fifteen minutes. Thoroughly enjoyed it, Robert very much reminded me of the Louisville Lip as his talking skills are exceptional. Clearly a lovely chap. Didn't learn anything about motorsickle riding but hey ho....had a double breakfast whilst I waited for knowledge, enjoyed the sun pouring in, and I started the day smiling. Thank's from the U.K. Robert. Keep riding like a butterfly.

I fell upon this video. I bought a 2020 Honda Shadow Phantom 3 weeks ago. I've only had 2 weekends for practice as of today (3 / 28 / 21 ). I've put 30 miles on my new bike and all of it was practice riding with Turn From Stop, Weaving, Throttle / Clutch control and Stopping. It seems that U-Turns just come natural for me since I'm not afraid to lean the bike. Anyway, watching your video was helpful for me. You explained the Turn from Stop very well and I'll be practicing that next weekend weather permitting. My Beginner Rider Course is in the first week of May ' 20. Thanks to you, I now have even more interest in getting better skills. This is the very best Video I have seen on the subject. Thank you SO much. :-)

I was on a motorcycle course a little more than45 years ago and your information rocks. Great job! We did have a guy show up on the third morning. We had been doing circles, serpentine, cones for the first two days but on the third day we hit the road. There were about 12 of us following a leader (car) and he got to a stop sign on a gravel road. The late arrival locked up his front wheel and dumped the bike. Have you ever seen a person grab the handle bars of a Harley and jerk it upright from laying on it's side with the front wheel coming 12 inches off the ground? We called him sir after that. The information contained in this video is excellent!

Thank you for another informative vedio.. on the exercise in which the left foot goes up first and letting the motorcycle start to fall before applying power to the rear wheel is just for practice on balance and control. I can see new preloaders did not realize it in a previous vedio and do the same on the next exercise in which it wasn't required. Just my two cents. Finally, I'm getting so much better from watching your vedio, but I don't think I can get up to your skill level anytime soon. It's definitely a great challenge to practice slow speed maneuver. I had an accident about a week ago on my brand new Ultra am I am crushed (after watching that fat boy, I wish I kept my Road King). I understand many things I did wrong after watching this video! "Pre-Load" & keeping foot on rear brake, well I will not forget this. My left turns (that's what got me), U-turns, figure 8 (4get about it) are weak at best. But I will start practicing more. So the next question was how am i going to ride this monster….. waiting for my license plates i followed Roberts lessons on line…. And believe it or not….today i drove for the first time my 415kg bike and everything what Robert said worked…. Curves, slow turns, using only the rear break, balance between throttle and clutch etc…. I am so happy and my first ride was without stress and just enjoying the ride…Thank you Robert you are the best…. Greetings from Belgium.

Exercise 3 "trust and believe" made a huge difference in low speed confidence for me. It can demonstrate in just a few passes how you can go from falling over to straight up just by accelerating. I remember a time when I was riding a KLX 250 on a trail, and I came to a stop on a small hill, went to put my foot down and realized the ground was a foot away. I had a whole two seconds to contemplate whether or not to try and ride away or let it fall at a stop. At the time I let it fall, figuring it was going to fall anyways and wouldn't hurt as bad when stopped. I know better now.
Thanks Robert your channel is very informative 👍 I've been a rider for many years but just learning some new ways to operate a motorcycle 🏍 , blessings from Jamaica 🇯🇲
Another great video! Guys, and gals, these practice exercises are invaluable. I’ve been riding a little over a year. My first bike. Last year I went to my first bike rally in Red River NM. It was very intimidating as I had my bike for about a month. (I successfully completed the MSF training in Durango. Great instructors)Red River is a small rally compared to a lot of others. After that I found Roberts videos and started practicing learning to “trust and believe”. I rode 8 hours to AZ bike week last weekend and having the fundamentals down has given me that confidence one needs when around 10’s of thousands of bikers. Great stuff Robert!

One key element of your slow speed tight turn maneuvering that other YT ride instruction content providers almost completely neglect is USING THE CLUTCH AND KEEPING THE ENGINE REVS UP into a usable range for cornering. The same goes for twistie road riding at speed. A good practice is to end your run in first gear unless you're going to back into a parking space, etc.

A time saver I use is on the slow ride. I have them all abreast in a line with me in the middle walking, and tell them to try not to pass me. I start kinda briskly, and keep walking slower and slower. You find out pretty quick who has too little throttle (stalls) or has the clutch out (can't go slow). I also tell them to practice this when coming to red lights, instead of stopping quickly, which is how I learned.

Mr? Simmons...I dunno if I told you or not, but in teaching the RLAP course, I went around to industrial parks, state parks, and different places that' had large parking lots, asking if they'd mind if we borrowed the lots. Every time, I got a solid NO, because we live in a sue-happy society full of ridiculous judges who support the insanity (remember the McDonald's hot coffee lawsuit?). What I found out when we had set up in a church parking lot one Saturday from the pastor who was jogging around the property was not only were we welcomed, but.even encouraged to come again (just not on Sunday)! BTW, fatboy wheels on my Heritage made no difference in the wind at all, and I ride in all weather. The downside of them is 26 lbs. apiece, but I have the motor to push them.

You did a great job on the video. I know the headache you had putting it together. But in the end I think it was worth it, Great job!! All of my guys that came down from Columbia SC had a great time as always. I think everyone rode away with stronger skills. They are already talking about the return trip. As for me.... Brother thank you for all you do. I will see you soon. Much respect from Kenn With 2 "NN's"

Hey Robert. So I took a motorcycle class last weekend bc you inspired me to do so. The class was very enlightening. Get this, the next day I went out to an open lot to practice my slow manuevers only to burn my dog gone clutch. I thought that a wet clutch wouldn't get smoked as easily as a car's clutch, when you keep it engaged in slow movements. Goes to show you how much more I need to learn.

Hey Jesus. Sorry about your clutch, but the highlight of you message for me was you were inspired to take a motorcycle class and you went out to practice. That’s great! Keep it up brother!

You'll want to circle the lot every now and then with 3rd gear, clutch engaged, to cool her off a bit.

Good stuff man... I just watched your traveling down to Florida video meeting up with ride like a pro guy... I will say this... I'm 58 and I've been riding since I was 18... Thought I knew all I needed to know... Just happened to watch ride like a pro before I went down to Tennessee to ride the circuits down there... The tale, moonshiners run, diamondback, blue ridge parkway, and the devil's triangle, and if I hadn't washed that, doing the triangle with three 180° switchbacks uphill, not knowing about the friction zone and keeping power to the rearwheel at all times... I'm sure it would have laid it down with tragic results. Keep doing what you're doing... Old dogs CAN learn new tricks! Later
