For those who are asking how to stop the spread or smudging of the ink, First off he doesn't explain that it needs to be used as you would if you were tattooing a client. After the stencil is applied depending on the application let it dry for 10 or so.. Then work from the bottom up using small amounts of vasoline and wiping constantly. The vasoline will stop the ink from smearing and you learn proper wiping as you go.. It's really that simple. I suggest using fruit first if you screw the fruit up you can just peal it away and have a snack...

After applying your stencil (whether you do it free hand with a pen or use spirit paper) try rubbing some Vaseline over it to protect it, If the ink is going in deep enough, (not too deep, obviously) you can wash the ink off afterwards with green soap an it'll get rid of most of the crap.

So I'm practicing on a fake skin and the needle keeps catching. Is it just cheap fake skin that does this? It came with the kit, I'm afraid of practicing on people until I get an apprenticeship which might be hard to find seeing as I have a full time job and I'm about to have my first baby, but what kind of example would I set if I didn't try at all? Anyway would actual skin or fruit skin catch though? It seems like itd be painful but I never felt a needle snag when I got my tattoos. I'd try it on my thigh but I'm way too pregnant for that 😅 sorry for the ramble I tend to overthink lol.

@Deathbringer99699 erm, finish your design, then get some PVA glue, and a paint brush, add a THIN layer all over the skin making it air tight, it will look a bit shiny, but it wont rot i dont think, the air will be absent from the skin so it should stay okay

@Dforssten You're supposed to tattoo on real skin at about a 45 degree angle, pretty much the same way you draw with a pencil. When I first started, I was under the impression you want to hold the gun straight up as possible, and then I wondered why my lines looked so sketch (scratcher). Don't be a scratcher!

it doesn't react to over working but for running lines and learning a good pace , how to keep the ink loaded, practice shading i dont see anything wrong with it. beats kids marking up there friends. i was concerned about the stencil lasting it seems to work to me. i dont see why i need to buy a video to "learn" how to trace on practice skin , i just saw it.

@antisora i'll tell you one thing..practice skin is no where near real skin, at least the way it works for me! the way the ink goes into practice skin and how it looks isn't the same as real skin! my lines dont come out bold and when i do shading it looks horrible..i've done a couple tattoos on real skin including my self and it comes out the way it should!!

Edgars Zaharevics try using pigs skin, don't go up to a pig n try tattooing it haha , go to the butchers or market or supermarket and look for pigs skin it will come in thick slices. here in the UK thats what people use to practice it's more realistic and the closest texture to human skin when practising

I have problem. Im just starting to tattoo with my own machine, i tested the machine and did small =D - tattoo, it went well. Then when I started to do another stuff, the needle started jamming or something. It didnt move on skin. And also it didnt put barely any ink on the skin. whats the problem?
@victormeas450
4 жыл бұрын
I know this is too late but for anyone encountering this problem: its because the needle is going to deep and probably hitting the surface on the other side, damaging the needle. The average length you want to go to is 2mm no more. I'd wager even less for practice skin as it can be notoriously thin.

@acuralee
7 жыл бұрын
Your probably not giving your stencil time to dry. You'll need to clean your fake skin, then apply your stencil. Let it sit for 10 to 15 mins.... then starting from the bottom up apply a little Vaseline to the area your tattooing.... But if your stencil still wipes off after letting it set and such then I'd get a different set of stencil paper as yours may be a cheap kind.

@Deathbringer99699 one more thing, during the second half of my interviews I would give them an art test, i would give them a small description of a tattoo that someone would want and I would expect them to completely draw it out and make a stencil and possably ink it if they could provide a model...only one thing will get you a tattooing job and thats the passion...if the passion is there you'll get hired...hope this helps dude and good luck
@BillySmith187

@Deathbringer99699 i didnt see any responses to you post so I'll answer it. as a former shop owner I think it would be really weird bringing in an application made out of pig skin, when ever I hired people i could care less about what is written on paper, the only thing i cared about was their portfolio, stuff they have done in the past also too, I look really close to all the art they do besides tattooing like painting, drawing, life drawing and composition breakdown...

I tried "practice skin" once.. it got nothing to do with real skin, and is miles away from tattooing real .. Try pig skin .this is far more realistic than this .. even in this Video you see that the result ist far away from an ordinary tattoo, its much clumsier .

This practice skin is shit. It doesnt teach you anything about how you tattoo!!! You have to run your machine harder than you would on a person. The lines come out lie shit...the color is patchy at best. Its nothing like the real deal!!! I tried this shit out once years ago just to see what it was like and it was joke. I was over it in 10 min,.
