The bible cuts straight to the point. I have found what philosophers put it in words much easier to digest as the Bible is dense in wisdom and takes time to actually digest. Plus mindfulness meditation can be used by Christians to calm our minds on our day to day lives. It doesn't mean you become Buddhist just because you meditate but I do agree with the fact that they have scientific way of it as they have practised more than us on mindful mediation. Most people think Buddhism and Taoism are kinda the same because if their culture, but they have many fundamental differences, such as who’s in charge of hell, where to go after death, the basic understanding of the world, etc. That being said, some would argue that folk custom is more diverse and can do something that a religion can’t do, which I do agree. Those who believe in both Taoism and Buddhism can’t be divine as a Taoist or a Buddhist, but a lot of them could do plenty of miracles through the power of Tao Gods and Guanyin. @gardensofthegods

I don't believe they are anti-life and oddly enough it was Buddhism for me that really helped reaffirm that they're definitely is some kind of God or higher intelligence that is all loving . But what happens sometimes in Buddhism is people reach a state where they experience some kind of emptiness and sometimes when you are there in the void you will feel there is no God no nothing and it is very frightening . I believe that's why they have such a strong emphasis on prayer and visualizations with their different Buddhas and Saints ... other times you feel this powerful love out there that is all encompassing that flows within you and flows without you like this song by George Harrison . So they don't call it God they call it MIND , they say only thing that really exists is mind ... and we are all one in that mind just like each individual drop of water makes the vast ocean
@gardensofthegods

Also think about what they're really saying when they say there is only MIND. They have a prayer that says something like " no ears , no eyes , no tongue " ... called the HEART Sutra . Your mind , your thoughts , your actions , your words , your karma create your world . And this is also why faith in the good out there is so important .

I can understand where youre coming from in the sense that once you truly become enlightened, the sense of separation from being is perhaps no longer there, thus it would be redundant to use labels such as 'God' and 'worhsipper' as that would entail that they are separate. Maybe the buddhists have bypassed this step and jumped straight into recognizing that true existence is one and only one. Even then I have issue with the fact that they refuse to attribute intent to 'God' or the 'mind' as you call it. As far as I have studied (which is surely not enough) about buddhism they see 'creation' as chaotic occurrence that just 'is', rather than having a specific purpose designed by a particular independent cause.

It's BS. A demon can come as an angel of light to manipulate. Colossians chapter 1:15-20 15 The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. 17 He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. 18 And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy. 19 For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, 20 and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.

Then for some in this case you my friend are just fine❤️. when such things attempt or start to take control is it then time to ask yourself are you following the path and where along did you go astray.

@teddyp3723

@@torossia They aren't laws. They are trainings to be taken up willfully by a person who sees the value in them. If you don't see the value in not taking intoxicants it doesn't mean you can't see the value and gain benefit from following other trainings taught by the Buddha, such as not killing, not stealing, not lying, and not committing sexual misconduct. But it's true that if you are a monk you are generally not allowed to use intoxicants. There isn't an external spiritual entity that will punish a person for using intoxicants according to Buddhism. Whether or not the result using intoxicants will be more suffering than happiness is another question.

The fundamental ground between these two are too different to be possible. This would be like planting your seed on rocky ground. In budism, your strength comes from with in. In Christianity, your strength comes from above. You can not truly practice both if you aim to be on fire for one. You will be Luke warm at best with a divided house.

You can practice both but only if you’re part of one of the small universalist sects of Christianity you cannot in wider Christianity. This is because in Christianity the “path to enlightenment” if you want to call it that is devotion to Christ and aligning yourself with the will of the triune God and a constant turning away from your sins and commitment to the Church. This isn’t compatible with Buddhist belief in Dharma, cosmology, or spiritual practice. For one a Christian wouldn’t be able to see the Buddha himself as a spiritual guide as he was not a Christian and is therefore doesn’t qualify as a spiritual father. To most Christians Buddha is no different than Aristotle. Some good secular ideas but nothing spiritual claimed or said is valid as he doesn’t meet the criteria for spiritual leadership. This would fundamentally prevent a Christian from being a Buddhist as anything read or learned can only be viewed secularly and scholarly not spiritually.

You have no idea what you're talking about. Catholics are Christian. Catholic means universal. Christ's universal church for everyone everywhere. Christ told Peter "Upon this rock I'll build my church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. Peter was the rock. He's buried at St Peter's Basilica. Every Pope after has been in succession. The same church that has stood for 2000 years going back to Christ and Peter. It was only 400+ years ago when a monk named Luther broke communion from the Catholic church to start his own church and removed 7 books from the old Testament. That was the beginning of all these protestant denominations and teachings of Calvanism or Arminianism etc. Everything done in the Catholic church can be found in scripture. Those who disagree need to read their bibles more.
